In Callahan's case I'd rather do that then see him on the roster for 3 more years. - Feds91Stammer
Perhaps he can be on LTIR for 3 more seasons like many finished players with long contracts. |

You are a Penguin fan so why do you care? - Leafsandbolts
Worked for the Lightning for like 5 years, so I'm pretty knowledgable about the team. I like some guys on the team and they're usually fun to watch. I like to talk hockey too. |

LTIR is a terrible plan and players have to be legitimately injured. |

Filppula still has value. His game is not declining (yet). Good 2-way center. Given some of the crazy contacts handed out the last few seasons, his one year remaining is not silly. I could see a team taking him without us retaining salary, if we don't expect a big return.
Cally is a blackhole. I think MSL tied Yzerman's hands and Yzerman did the best he could under the circumstances. He's overrated and injury prone. Nobody questions his heart, but the guy is not worth anywhere near that kind of salary. It's more than fair to say he is untradeable. But, he has to go, and preferably before the expansion draft. I say we give him away for nothing (future considerations) to anybody who will take him. poop, I'd put a draft pick with him to get somebody to take the chance - we could afford to give away a pick given our depth. We just can't make a habit of that kind of thing.
I don't know the rules on this, but is there any way we could bury him in the minors? Does that take any of his salary off the books? If he refuses to report once he clears waivers, wouldn't that be grounds to terminate his contract?
I really like Bishop and would hate to see him go, but I don't see how we can keep him. Somebody must be willing to take a chance on him if we don't expect a big return for him. Again, dump him for whatever we can get. Trade him and make Vasy watch endless game tape of Bishop's puck handling and give him a crash course in puck handling. Bishop really has an edge there and it would be great if Vasy could improve in that area somehow.
I wouldn't trade Johnson or Palat.
Garrison is declining, but still has value as a 5 or 6 d-man in a mentor role to a younger D-core. Trade him.
Keep Coburn.

A little steep on the konecky ask. other deal would intrigue me except the 1st rounder. |

Holy poop this thread was a dumpster fire. I made it to page 7 and gave up.
My thoughts...
The decision is TJ vs Palat and TJ gets dealt...much easier to replace with young guys like Point or now even a possibility with Peca that he can be a #2 center.
Flip will be dealt
Drouin will be back
Obviously Bish is moved and add a move or 2 on defense with Garrison and possibly a Sustr moving.
Reality is unless this team makes a run to squeak into playoffs I would expect a few deadline deals for some of our vets including Bishop, Garrison, Flip, and Boyle |

Keep reading. Feds has already said many times people won't give up an asset for a rental. He has been asked a few times too about Bishop being traded and has ignored so basically you can count on Bish being here all year
Question is going to be, who do we protect? Namestnikov, Killorn? Obviously Stammer, Hedman, Callahan and Flip as of now have to be protected. Vasey seems like the goalie we protect. Then Stralman and some forwards. Who does Vegas take??
