They never are the end all be all.

Just another layer.

Jack Eichel has a negative Corsi. I have never brought it up because I don't think for him, it's all that relative, because it's just one facet he struggles in (for now)

He's elite in other categories like shots per game, and frankly, he's Jack Eichel.

- sbroads24

How many, if any, of the Sabres are a positive Corsi?

Do you, or Yost, have any other under the radar potential signings regarding forwards or defense?

The best I could find as far as value for next year were Vrbata, Gagne, and Eaves, but I say that only looking at their point total production this year and not checking their advanced stats at all.

Maybe Seidenberg or Campbell as far as defense?

6. One story about Lehner: Last year, I worked a game of his in Montreal that Buffalo won. He was our interview post-game and he was terrible. This was odd, because anyone who’s ever dealt with him knows he’s normally the exact opposite. Then, another broadcaster came up to me and said, “He’s pissed at you.” That made sense and I knew exactly what it was. I’d talked about his injury issues, the fact his weight gain affected his health and play, which was true, but clumsily written. (Generally, I don’t like writing about conditioning, because my own is so bad.) So, I made a point that the next time I saw him, I’d bring it up. That was in training camp this season and we talked about it. We hammered it out very professionally. It’s not in the heat of the moment like last week was, but Lehner’s got that calmness in him.

Boston is in a free fall right now. I will make a Gerbe level wager that we finish the season ahead of them.

PS - we're five points back with 4 games in hand. Stash, I may have misunderstood your post, but if Detroit wins and we win, we're only 3 points back of BOS, with 4 games still in hand.

There's talk everyday on the SiriusXM NHL channel about how long Claude Julien has left. Boston is going to end up in last place in the division barring a miracle.

ROR which is kind of a quelle surprise kind of deal.

Franson and Reinhart as well but both those guys are in sheltered roles. I really wanna see Reinhart back at centre for this reason. If he's as smart and good defensively as they say (and i really believe he is) then i think it may help long term to move ROR to eichel's wing and have Reinhart take the 2c.

I'm no expert by any means, but I was going to try my best and come up with a list of under the radar guys.

Gagner is a guy, but I think he cashes in after this year with a nice deal

Just looked at the Eastern Conference standings. The difference in goal differential between the Metropolitan and the Atlantic is insane.

Sounds like the Friedge needs to go on nutri system lol.

Lehner seems like a complex individual to me. At times he's very engaging and personable and other times down right ornery and pissy. He is emotional on the ice, wants to win every game and I love that competitiveness about him. If he learns how to channel this emotions on the ice the better he'll be. As Forsberg said, he belives he hasn't even come close to his potential yet. The injuries hasn't helped.

It's interesting to me that we're 6th in GA out of 16 in the conference, but dead last (tied) in GF.

That's just it with guys like him though. As much as you'd like them to settle down, they do need a bit of that edge. Like you said, if he can channel it correctly, watch out.

I think we may have seen that exact type of performance from him in Montreal. He wasn't happy about how the week went at all. There was all sorts of talk about how he got pulled in the TO game and how displeased he was. Seems he managed to take that anger and channel it in a constructive way.

The more engaged he is during the game, the better off they are, IMO.

Another part of that piece was "The organization did a great job of keeping things in-house, but word is it was a tense 72 hours after the loss to the maple Leafs."

I wonder if it involved the GM and coach getting into a lively conversation about pulling Lehner.

He's just an emotional guy, good or bad. Like you said and I agree, if he channels it positively, all the better for him and the team. He did say he doesn't get as mad when he lets a bad one in and sounds like he's working on that part of it.

If any of the ones mentioned so far even want a 2 year deal, I would say no way and move on.

Gagne has to get paid, but I would think both Vrbata and Eaves would at least get a decent one year deal with how they have produced so far this year.

Doubtful Seidenberg or Campbell get much money on more than a one year deal going forward but both either would be a good signing.

Carryover from last thread

Scoreless in last 6, been with Eichel for 13 games. 4G, 1A in that time, had a stretch of 3 games in a row with a goal, Eichel no assists on any of those 3 games in a row though (1 unassisted, 1 from Franson, one from Reinhart/McCabe)

Yeah, but that was the week I took him in HBSL. So he gets a pass.

Kulikov back. Back up green goalie starting in net for one of the hottest teams in the NHL. Sabres coming off the high of back to back OT divisional games... Tough call on the prediction but I'm going with...
