See this is exactly what I was getting not directed at you but one 3 game stretch and now it's Bogo OR player y. For the love of god please dont deviate tim
- Sabresfan-365

That's my problem with Gionta too. Next year he'll be 39 and taking up a roster spot. The top six isn't changing next year, so if we want the young guys to play, they have to slot in for Foligno, Larsson, Gionta, Moulson, Girgs and Carrier, unless you move Kane or Ennis. Some combination of these guys have to leave if you want to see Baptiste, Bailey or Nylander.

The easiest cut for me is Gio, despite his almost .5 ppg, although if you can trade Girgs or Larsson + + for a young D man, i wouldn't be mad

Top 6 has to change next year. Despite all the nice things Eichel said about Folignos work on the top line, he doesn't belong there.

EDIT we still have to find a sniper to ride with Jack and Samson.

Agreed. Hes playing very well this year but if we're really serious about a playoff run next year to do you reallly want to bet on a 39 year replicating this sort of production?

Again not referring to you specifically just on the topic that was discussed at length yesterday about the implications of a one and done playoff run.

gionta, is playing as well as any 3rd line player in the nhl

if he wants back, you bring him back on a 1 year deal

if you move reinhart to the dot, that frees up a top 6 slot and a 4th line slot for the 3 kids, fasching, bailey, baptiste

baptiste IMO need to probably play with reinhart or eichel

bailey IMO is probably more suited to play with ror

fasching, an incomplete in my book right now

With the LNTC I'm not sure what he might bring on the market. Might be best just to give him his props before he hands off to ROR.

In prime top 6 forward or in prime top 4 d-man, which one do you pick?

I get the feeling they can really only make the move for one.

I mean the top sense in the best 6 offensive players:

Kane-ROR-Okposo
Ennis-Eichel-Reinhart

So that means that for an infusion of young talent, you have to let some bottom six pieces walk.

Foligno-Larsson-Gio
Moulson-Girgs-Carrier

The simplest cut is Gio. The most painless cut (on the ice) is Moulson. Carrier i would leave exposed.

All three should go to make room for new blood IMO

Suppose it would depend who's on that list. Was mentioned a while back that murray likes to have these guys moved to contenders to give them a real shot like he did with weber, maybe thats his props? Thanks for all you've done here's a shot at another cup sorta deal?

You say bring back Gio, and then you say that Baptiste and Bailey will play too. I don't understand how you're making room for all these players

If it's truly a "prime" you have to go D. Too hard to find. Few and far between for true primes.

PS despite his bad night last night- Risto IS developing into exactly what we want him to be.

if you keep reinhart on the wing

you already have eichel, ror, reinhart, okposo as locks for your top 6
plenty of serviceable options to round that out with kane, nylander, ennis, and the other kids

regarding d
risto is a top pair
mccabe is a second pair
guhle is unknown
and then you have blah

getting a d man has to be the goal, esp with kulikov, franson and maybe another departing

Gionta is playing his best hockey right now as a Sabre which is why he will have value come trade deadline. A strong playoff team will want him for depth and leadership to make a run for the cup. We will get a 3rd for him which is great.
If we can get a 3rd for Franson, a 5th for Moulson(probably have to eat some of his salary to make the deal) and trade for Landeskog we are looking much better.

Agreed on both. I just thought it was impressive the way the team played so well despite a less than stellar night from risto.

For me it comes down to 2 things. First one is as you said its way harder to find those D-men. The other thing is im convinced as long as the winger has some sort of finishing ability and speed (think hagelin-like) Eichel will make that winger look pretty good. I.e you may be able to get 25-30 goal production out of a 20 goal guy (and get him at a 20 goal price tag).

As much as i like risto, im not convinced he's capable of carrying a d-pair, especially if he has to do it both offensively and defensively. Id go all in there and see what you can get.

Disagree. For what they bring in overall benefit to this team, measured against the currency they are likely to exchange in the open market, you dangle ENNIS.

He's had a good career here, but he doesn't really fit going forward.

by cutting gionta's minutes down, his production per 60 has risen

in essence, he is putting the same numbers up with less ice time

3rd line is perfect slot for him

the 2 rocks lately on this team (production per slot) is gionta on the 3rd line and fedun on the bottom pair

after saying that, girgens has played well recently as well, which is a good thing

Penciling Nylander in is dangerous. I think a more patient approach with him might be a better solution.

I thought that should've been a penalty when's Girgensons was taken down right before that Neal goal
Ennis still should've recognozed Neal coming right down the middle though

- jdfitz77

Ennis was busy skating back hard and taking the 3rd man in, who was one of the defenseman, as he covered him even when he turned.

Neal was the 4th man in.

Instead of following the 3rd man in when he turned, Ennis was supposed to turn around and look to the center of the ice?

I guess, but where were the other players skating hard to come back?

ennis has become the max part 2

when other players are lolly gagging and he is going all out, he is getting unneeded flack
