He's an NHL player who's played a ton of games, and played well enough at one point to earn a big contract. He's going to have some good games in this league.

I just hope it doesn't then effect what we try and do with the defense this offseason

- sbroads24

I don't think it will. I remember when Coller tweeted they tried to move him last summer but no takers. I don't think they'll protect him in the expansion draft and if he plays well down the stretch, maybe Vegas will pick him. My concern though is vegas will probably pick Deslauriers.

Moulson, no. But Bogo is a second pairing defenseman with good experience, and they have to spend their money somewhere
- jcragcrumple

I just can't see Bogosian being the best option out there among the 30 teams that have to leave defensemen unprotected.

It seems pretty clear now that there's really only room for one of girgs/larsson on this team.
- Sabresfan-365

One of those two will get traded.

First time in a while i saw them just flat out beat a team last night. at 7-3-1 they're firing on something and cool down is inevitable but if they've really figured it out it won't be some big drop like going 3-7 after going 7-3
- Sabresfan-365

Said the same thing. It was a good feeling.

There wasn't Jamie Benn handing the puck to McCabe, or Eichel banking one off of a skate like against NY. We totally deserved that game last night

Definitely not the best, but he very well could be top 6-7 left unprotected. I think they'll take Girgs because he's young and cheap, but if they took Bogo or Ennis, i wouldn't be surprised

I hope 26/47.

We could possibly trade them to Vegas too. We could maybe trade a pick + Moulson for a low end guy they took in expansion

I never really thought about it, but it makes sense. Given that, which one do you think is the better one to keep?

Personally, I feel like Girgs has more offensive upside and better speed. But at the same time, Larsson is a total pest out there.

- HonkFortheGoose

i think i would keep girgs.. he has the higher upside and is still defensively responsible. he has the grit where he could become that pest too

Isn't there a rule that says a player has to be under contract next year in order to be eligible? I thought i read that, and that's why we signed Girgs and Foligno to one-year deals. Although, Vegas also has exclusive RFA negotiating rights for 3 days or something

This isn't an easy answer. Girgs to me like you said has the higher offensive upside but I think he'd also have higher value in the trade market. Might be the roster player you have to add to sweeten the deal for a top 4 d-man.

If the Sabres end up as sellers at the deadline, I see him traded and then signed back.

Favourite part is we won with our goalie and #1 d-man not having great nights

5-3 Sabres.

We go into the 3rd down 3-1.

Eichel scores twice. Kulikov, Okposo, Girgensons with an empty netter.

If we do that, it means that the young guys don't play. If we keep Larsson, Girgs and Gionta, that means the only cast off will be DLO (i don't see any way out of Moulson's contract). next year's roster would be virtually identical to this year

ennis-ror-okposo
foligno-eichel-reinhart
Kane-larsson-Carrier
Moulson-Girgs-Gionta

We need more of a shakeup IMO. time to let Gio go

if the sabres miss the playoffs, and hire an offensive minded coach

do we have the horses with this lineup, rolling 3 lines?

Nylander, Eichel, Okposo
Baptiste, Ror, Bailey
Kane or Foligno, Reinhart, Gionta
Carrier, Girgens, Fasching

move foligno or kane and ennis at deadline for pick/prospect/d help

D

player x, risto
mccabe, bogo or player y
guhle, fedun

move gorges, franson, kulikov and maybe bogo

I think moulson goes to rochester next year if they can't move him

It's tough. I get the feeling that if we trade Girgs, we may end up regretting it later. He seems like exactly the type of player that bites you in the ass after they leave somehow.

Protected:

ROR
Okposo
Foligno
Larsson
Girgs
Ennis
Kane

McCabe
Risto
Bogo??

Lehner

So exposed would be Moulson, Carrier, Gio (if resigned first), Gorges. FAs (Franson, Kuli, Fedun (Want to keep him), DLO, Falk

As for sending Moulson to Roch, the cap hit is the same as a buyout

I don't think he's saying that he wants Bogo there, but there's no guarantee they'd be able to get rid of him either via the expansion draft or in a trade.
