My personal opinion is that this guy was not at all respectful of Capuano. He wasnt playing up to par as a result. We shall see

could be. I agree with Stan Fishler is right, I think Cappy was dead when he complained about losing Okposo and Nielsen. Snow probably wanted to fire him then but didn't want to make it look obvious. That said, Weight is 3-0-1. Win tomorrow against Habs we are 1 point out of last playoff spot.

Maybe, but that doesn't explain his play last night.

That doesn't explain why he can't skate and loses almost every board battle he's involved in. Not to mention his turnovers. The only thing I can say he did well last night is he didn't take his standard stupid penalty per game and he ruined the 4th line.
Guy needs to turn it around big time. For me Strome and Ladd can sit when Lee and Beau are ready to go.

I think KO and Frans put a hex on Ladd.

Going to be some interesting lineup decisions. When is Hamonic back so we can trade him?

Did you think his play last night was that bad? I didnt. I mean when you sign a contract like that, you are expected to do more.......but he's def overpaid for what he would and does bring to the table. Its tough with that contract, cause you'll never play up to it. In 3-4 years, if he's really that bad, they'll buy him out and move on. Panic signing by Garth......but I dont hate Ladd.

I do however think the isles are playing harder for Weight in general. The gaps are more closed, and the forecheck is more tenacious. The outlet passes last night late in the game were atrocious. Thats not really on the coach......just bad decision making. Boychuk, Leddy and Hickey were all guilty.

It shouldn't be this difficult. They should have decided who was part of the solution and who wasnt and made moves a year ago. You can't have consistency with the constant lineup changes.

We're basically stuck with him the whole contract because he's only getting a salary of 1 million with the rest coming in bonuses. So in other words, it's a buy out proof contract.

I know he hasn't been good so far, but I'm not super worried yet. I feel with a new coach and hopefully getting completely healthy, he'll come back to close to the player that we thought we signed.

Im not worried either.......I truly believe he was dog sh!t because of Capuano. He looked to me like he was just going through the motions. I dont think Doug Weight is the right guy for the job (I.E the PP is horrific), but in the few games he's taken over to me theres a definite difference in effort. I also loved how he benched Strome and called him out. No more friends......its time to work.

That explains his whole game to a T KR, as far as I'm concerned

Yeah, I thought last night with Lee out Ladd would get a shot on the top line. Maybe Weight wants him to just get back to basics playing with Cal and Casey, then hopefully he'll get hot and move up in the lineup.

And agreed with Weight. I was opposed to him getting the job, but so far he's done a good job. Hopefully it continues and this isn't just the high of a new coach taking over.

I think he's been better though under Weight. I dont think he's taken as many penalties. You simply just can't respect a coach who's never done anything at any level of hockey, when you're a former Cup winner.

Look no further than the "resurgence" of Kulemin. The guy's been great......he's always played hard hockey, but all of a sudden now he's been getting points.

Yes. He contributed almost nothing. No offense and very little defense. He made our 4th line look bad, the only line with a net - on the game. The other 3 lines were either even or +.

Like you said, it's made worse by the length and size of the contract. Guys making a fraction of what he makes are working their butts off, risking injury, blocking shots, etc. Even old man Chimera is beginning to contribute, dropping the gloves, etc. Watching Ladd, I just don't see a motivated guy. I was hoping it was all on Cappy. But that excuse is now gone. It's time for Ladd to step up his game.........or else be a healthy scratch.

Vrbata would be the Snow move, but definitely not the answer. Im literally shocked at his failure to ante up and pull the trigger for Landeskog or Duschene. Its mind blowing to me. He's got more than enough prospects at every single position yet he refuses to part with any of them.

The excuse now will be that Hamonic is hurt. He has got to get one of these guys. Do not let other teams steal them away. I'm not shocked. This is the Garth MO.

What did Staple call him? The Big Paulie of the NHL. He doesn't move fast for anyone.

I was hoping he was sent out at the end for it.......no matter what, he's really stepped up. Dipietro (love him or hate him) made a good point last night during the game. He said that under Weight guys are being given roles. They are told what is expected of them......clearly it sunk in for Chimera.
