Tkachuk plays rough, mean and pesty. But I wouldn't say dirty, even though I didn't like the leg sweep at the end. Honestly the Bennet slew foot was way worse, just luckily didn't end in an injury. This kid plays dirty when he wants to, kesler dirty. Which i do not like. And that hit on Guadreau was even worse. Shoulder directly to the head? Tell me, if Chara made that same hit on Matthews would Sportsnet still have the headline "Gotta See It: Komarov rocks Gaudreau with devastating hit"? I think they'd instead be calling for his head, no matter the height difference. - TycoRC
Youre not implying that sportsnet is biased are you I cant stomach watching it any more |

What else is funny is that we have won more playoff rounds since 05-06 in one playoff than your team has in 12 years. |

Two replies? The butthurt is fierce.
Such convenient fact sniping.
Boeser is a bust and you guys are so excited for him. How many first round college prospects do you need to fan on before the fanbase learns? |

For a team who everyone in Calgary deemed as a western conference contender. Having numbers like that aren't very promising. Answer me this. What year do you expect to finally be a contender? Or is this part of the process? |

If Chara hit Matthews, i still dont think he should get punished just for being 7ft tall. Komarov's not a dirty player and has a pedigree of hitting the body 100% of the time, rarely if ever touching anyones head.
Goudreau is 5'9, close to Marner's size. I wouldnt like it if Marner got walloped either, look even at the Laine hit, it was nasty, but legal.
If you punish Komarov for that hit, you cannot allow anyone 3 inches bigger than the target, to hit them, or else you suspend players 80-90% of the time an impact happens.
All of that could've also been avoided if Gaudreau wasnt hunched over and admiring the puck instead of being aware of the player 2-3 meters in front of him, clearly coming his way.
Hit was bad, but borderline legal, and Gaudreau's size played a part in it, as did Komarov being known as a non-pest cheap shot type of person, but a solid checking and hitting forward.
Im just glad its not a concussion. Or doesnt appear to be. - Buggy166
I think that's why people are saying the hit wasn't legal. I'm not saying there was intent, I genuinely don't think there was. Point is, people with 3 inches or more in height difference hit people all the time and they aren't head shots. Point is, with that logic, every single hit Chara throws should be a head shot. But that's not the case. Chara hits people 6'-6'2 ALL the time (Keep in mind thats a 9" height difference) and the head isn't the first point of contact. If Chara can throw a hit without head shotting someone 9 inches shorter, are you really going to justify that Komarov couldn't do it to someone 3 inches shorter? Leafs fans are acting as if Komarov was 6'5" or something. There's hits between 6' to 6'3" guys ALL the time, and they don't result in direct headshots. |

Oh and yes, it was a head shot. I've seen posts from Leafs fans saying it wasn't. Again, I don't believe there was intent, or his feet left the ground or anything, no. Unintentional due to the speed of the game, but it was definitely avoidable. Gaudreau wasn't crouching or had his head super low. In fact he was fairly upright. |

To be fair, I haven't talked to many Leafs fans who think he should be suspended. League should review it because of what it is, then give him a warning or whatever. I don't think he deserves games. - SolidGoldBricks
I think he should be suspended. It was a deliberate attempt to injure. Bennett's was just a dirty play because it was in passing, but Tkachuk combined it with the backwards shove, which is truly dangerous. |

You do realize the head doesn't have to be contacted to be suspendable, right? It has to be targeted, which it clearly wasn't in this case. Gaudrea even said it himself...it was a clean hit. Leo checked on him afterwards too. TBH...I think Leo was surprised Gaudreau never saw him, since he came at him from directly in front. |

Absolutely right it was avoidable. Gaudreau could have been watching what was right in front of him instead of admiring his pass.
Cry more. If it was a flame hitting Marner, you would be passing out cigars. |

Agreed, while Komarov may have been able to get lower in the hit, it shouldn't be his obligation to do so if he's standing his normal height and in athlete's position. Johnny got rocked and needs to keep his head up. He's in a funk at the moment.
Right?! The bad slewfoots come at high speed and are much uglier than the nonsense yesterday. Tkachuk and Bennett's slewfoots were glorified trips.
Also, he's also been doing that all year. Tkachuk is the bomb.
"Oh, but he deserves a suspension this time because he did it to a Toronto Maple Leaf!"
