You guys are insane if you think a MAF for Shattenkirk is even a possibility. How much contract are you going to eat? Zero chance blues move forward with 10 million per year locked up in goalies.
Blues issues are more than just Goalie. Whole group not playing team D. Shatty in particular is much less physical. Maybe making sure doesn't get hurt, which I understand. |

Great, he'll fit right in and I dont mean that as insult to the Pens D but he's exactly what will thrive in their system. Instead of putting himself out of position with checks he'll be using a smart stick and getting pucks to forwards swiftly and precise. He really would be a lovely piece to acquire.
Do I think it will happen? No, I dont. |

What if hypothetically the Blues did acquire MAF and decided to protect him and not Allen....they wouldnt have a 10 million dollar goalie problem then...
EDIT: assuming Vegas would take Allen. I think they'd seriously consider it. |

Just because you don't protect Allen doesn't mean Vegas selects him |

I realize Sprong is returning from injury but he isn't even a ppg player in the Q right now. |

I know, 9 points in 8 games is actually better than a PPG. |

Well if your current goalie blows then you will be spending 10 at the position for the foreseeable future no matter what you do. Unless you find a murray or play a scrub for 1 per year at the position. sunk cost fallacy.
fleury obviously isn't worth a shat rental.
If we ate $2/year on fleury it would get interesting though. 3.75/year on fluery would be a really good deal and sold a chunk of your too much money at the goalie position problem. (buy out allen and overall figure fine).
FWIW Pens management is considering retaining to boost the Fleury return. He's a pretty good asset at 4 per year. At 5.75 per year that isn't the case. |

From what I've read, everybody agrees MAF won't get Shatty. Including RW. You guys need to get away from that fat POS coach. Start there first. |

Point is Green is on par with Shattenkirk and has another year on his deal so it is a safer trade. - Feds91Stammer
Green sucks and he's always injured no thanks. |

Me neither, honestly. Shattenkirk just isn't realistic. Unless he gets a raging hard on over the prospect of living in Pittsburgh next year, he's gonna command ~7 mil from a contender or 8 mil from a poop team as the first 1D to hit the open market in lord knows how long. Using Subban as the market setter here, since he all but hit the open market and got 9 mil, but he's also a top 5 defenseman in the league, which Shattenkirk is not. We can't make 7 mil on the blue line work, unless Dumo somehow only gets less than 3 mil for like four years. - Victoro311
Subban is not top 5 except on the overrated list. |
