I would use Kane as trade bait to get us that Top 3 D-man

2 scoring c--Eichel, o'reilly
3 scoring wings--okoposo, Nylander (projected,) kane
3 top d--risto, guhle (projected,) McCabe
goalie--doesn't matter as you won't waste a lottery pick on a goalie

- Michael Pachla

Plus Reinhart who can play both. But that D still worries me.

correct...it's even better than i thought

only strengthens the wingers

- Michael Pachla

Or the Centers if we wanna roll 3 lines that can score
Our 3rd line of Kane-Reinhart-Bailey for a few games was exactly what I talked about before this season started
I wanna see it next season bc I think Sam can feed Kane & Bailey for some easy goals

That would leave Okposo with O'Reilly & Nylander with Eichel
Fill in those other 2 wing slots
Or even go Nylander-Eichel-Okposo
And fill in O'Reilly's wings like we did with Drury
Some combo of Foligno, Ennis, Girgensons, Larsson, Carrier or someone we might still acquire
Then use that line against other teams' top scorers

I like Kane...
but u have to give to get
What's nice about replacing him,
Is that Bailey & Baptiste play a similar style
It's just gonna take time for them to develop into 20+ goal scorers for us
And of course, there's no guarantee they get to that level

Fasching is a guy I've said all along I'd use as part of a trade package
Talented kid who won't need to be protected in the expansion draft will be just what's a team like Anaheim or Nashville could be looking for

They should be. Given his propensity to move pending UFAs.

You wouldn't even notice the D if they had a prolific goal scorer. Where was Tarasenko picked? They need to find a guy like that in the draft. I don't think the snipe show is gonna cut it. No to Duchene too. They already got 6 versions of him in their top 6.

Do they? How many 30+ goal scorers are on this team? Kane was 5 years ago, he's a 20-25 goal guy. Eichel is one, Reinhart may be one, and that's it. Nylander? Who knows. ROR isn't either. He's in the low 20's as well. So 2.

Big deal, Dutch only did it once in his career. 60-70 point guy like the rest of them. If snipeshow was gonna be a goal scorer, he'd be lighting up AHL goalies for fun.

Yeah, but he did it last year. And is on pace for over 30 this year. He's got 15 in 40.

Edit: And he's also entering his prime. 2nd year.

There are only 25 players on pace for 30+ goals in the NHL. Very few teams have 2 and more than half have none.

I was just illustrating a point that we don't have 6 Duchenes. That just highlights how good he is.

Idk, maybe. I'd like there to be a dude that could get 35-40 year in and year out, but maybe the game doesn't lend itself to those types of players anymore

Eichel could be. But other than that only a small handful of guys can do that in today's game. And he does it on an even worse team than the Sabres.

Ok...so you think you can win a championship with Okposo and Kane as 2 of your top 3 wings?

I may need to spend alot more time consulting on these threads then.

Wonder if Jack would be a better 5 v 5 pal scorer if he was on the wing?

Okposo as a 65 point guy, on a Sabres playoff team, he's on pace for a shade under 60 on a team that can't score, he also leads the team with 30 points, is a very good 2nd liner. Kane on the 3rd. Nylander has 1st line potential, but we'll see on that. Plus Reinhart is the X factor in all this, we're still not sure where he'll play.

No. Jack needs the open ice to be the best he can be. There are only a handful of players close to or as good as him carrying the puck in the open ice. And that's what the fancy stats say.

Last year's Cup champs had
Kessel
Hornqvist
Hagelin
Kunitz

Our top 4 wingers for next year look to be
Okposo
Reinhart
Nylander
Kane

You could argue that Kessel & Hornqvist are the 2 best of those listed,
But I like all 4 of ours better than Kunitz and Hagelin

He was 4th behind Gaudreau, Panarin, and Malkin in controlled zone entries and 1st, ahead of Hall, Hoffman, and Nyqvist in terms of controlled zone exits. These are old numbers from last year after 50ish games, so it's possible some caught him, or maybe he increased his lead. I don't know. His numbers are probably down this year given his injury; he's clearly not carrying it like last year at this point.

http://www.sportsnet.ca/h...s-a-puck-carrying-phenom/

It's just a trend, but it was surprising where he was after just 4 months in the league.

(frank), I have zero luck picking goalies this year. Gibson is sitting tonight. Hopefully he gets the next one, or that was a totally wasted pick this week. And I can't afford that, because the other person and I only have 6 different players and he is one of them.

Edit: Orlov can go (frank) himself too. I had him in there and took him out at the last minute.
