No, but IMO we aren't a match with the AVS, they want a NHL ready D man and we aren't moving Risto or McCabe. I'd go for Landy over Duchene IMO. The Ducks are just loaded with D men but they have a " team cap " and don't think they want to take on a lot of money unless they move money out.

So it was mentioned earlier that the Avs have 2 D that have to be protected for expansion draft (not Barrie or Zadorov) so taking another D back that needs to be protected (or so it would seem).

The ducks are drooling with D men, so they have to move one within the next year, I would think (player getting frustrated without playing in Nhl but being ready). So something has to give.

Apparently... according to the site wizard, we have interest in Duchene, and we're actually putting real offers together. Assuming we're putting a McCabe in the deal, or god willing Bogosian, you think Murray's got a plan to overhaul the defense? I guess the actual question is, regardless, does he know the defense needs a real overhaul

I was told he doesn't want to move McCabe and getting Duchene puts us in a bad spot with to many centers. The defense doesn't need a complete overhaul just need to add a couple parts.

Murray wants to make the playoffs and once his attitude turns to " need " that could be a problem. You start to make deals just to make deals and we can't afford to keep making deals just to make them. If there is deal to be made that works and helps but doesn't put this team in a bad spot we should do it other then that, we should hold off for now.

So what becomes the Sekera, Stafford and a 2nd this time around?

Kane, Carrier and a 2nd? Doesn't that land us Doughty?

I agree the Ducks will have to make a move either this year or next but they hold the cards because they have what other teams want and that's good young, big D men with skill.

Gawd no...some of the Sabres posters are among the most realistic on Hockeybuzz...Cabin, for example, is a very intelligent poster...but you got a few real winners as well, Garth, for example.

Yeah I checked a couple places . He is cleared but won't go tonight. Said he should be in tomorrow .

Expect Winnipeg Jets forward Patrik Laine back in the NHL team's lineup sooner rather than later.

The 18-year-old forward has made enough progress in his recovery from a concussion in recent days that head coach Paul Maurice told reporters Laine could play as early as Tuesday against the San Jose Sharks.

At a news conference Monday, Maurice said Laine has responded well to practice and is "very, very close to returning."

"He went a lot harder [in practice] than we thought he would be able to," Maurice continued. "He feels really good. He's been banging on the door a little bit here. He's feeling strong. He's feeling ready."

I definitely agree. I personally have no clue why we'd be pursuing Duchene. He's a good player but certainly no where on, at least my idea of a priority list.

Very true. Hope we can get one, cause I like Montour as well as others that are on their low end.

Murray wants to make the playoffs this year, want and need is a big difference. If his attitude turns to " need " IMO that could be bad. Might make him make deals or deal that will hurt us in the future.

Not a sure thing. But looks as if he might.

Coach Paul Maurice called him an "option" to play against San Jose. "He feels really good," Maurice said. "So he's been banging on the door a little bit here. He's feeling strong, feeling ready. We needed to push him as hard as we did (Sunday) just to clear up any concerns that we would have. He's very, very close." Laine did some extra skating after Monday's optional session as he prepares to return from a concussion.

You are right...they have as good a chance to make the playoffs as Detroit and The Islanders.

They also have a pretty good shot a top 5 pick this year .

- Larsson_fan

They statistically have about the same chance sure, but when you actually look at the teams it's easy to see that Detroit is in free fall, as are the Islanders; their fall is a bit shorter though. The Sabres are on the way up. And should, hopefully, please God, continue to improve. I'm not saying they're way better, but they are better.
