I unleash fury upon those dummies in the Oilers threads all the time. Talk about a legion of morons those guys are. All Im doing here is trying to add some realism to your threads. Your roster is nowhere near a contenders roster. Your rebuild is doing fine....your on pace for a normal teardown rebuild to contend in another 3 years. It takes 6-8 years to build a contender from nothing. The Oilers will be at 10 by the time they contend but theres no way you'll be there after 5. No team in the History of scorched earth rebuilds has done it so fast, and GMTM made too many mistakes to be the first.

I'm trying out the steak on a cast iron pan in the oven technique.

Do I have this right?
Let steak stand for 30 minutes to come to room temp
Season with salt and pepper (more than you think I seem to recall)
Heat oven to 400 degrees
Put pan in oven for 20 minutes
Remove pan, place steak in pan return to oven
Seer for 1 minute on each side
Continue to cook for 2 more minutes
Remove, let steak stand for 10 minutes with butter on it

Sear the steak on the stovetop over high hear before you put it in the oven. You don't want sear anything in the oven. Have a meat temp probe? Pull it out of the oven when it reaches 125 degrees. Remove it to a plate, let it rest for 10 minutes.

Still 21st in the league ranking and 1st in the division. That loss 2 weeks ago really killed me.

we watch the "realism" every game...the goal this season is the playoffs...odds were against them from the start and got worse in eichel's absence...they've come from two 5-6-3 months in November and December and are 6-3-1 in January thus far...the parity in the middle of the eastern conference and the Nos. 3-8 teams in the atlantic division means anyone who gets on a roll late in the season could get themselves into a playoff spot...

there's no one on this board who feels this team is a contender for the cup, but this year, if they continue to progress (which I believe they will,) they have as good a chance as any other team clumped around and above them to land a playoff spot in the east

sure did...ditched the pylons and finished with 56 pts...drafted jvr and made it to the conference finals the following season and two years after that were in the scf...
