I got it...

Seabrook to somewhere for picks and/or prospects

Then schmaltz and forsling to Dallas for Oduya and Sharp (Dallas retaining half of Sharps salary).

Would it work?

- ToewsdNKanefusd

I don't get the great love for Sharp. he's old(er) and injury plagued. he's not the same guy he was a few years ago.

After listening to this whole thing, just to clarify some points: they didn't specifically say anything about a list and the time stamp that they talk about it is at about 25:25 for those interested. They also don't say the team has spoken to him at all about waiving his full NMC, just that a good source believes Seabrook would waive for Vancouver, Edmonton, and Colorado. The latter comes with a lot of skepticism from both guys - they specifically say "and it sounds ridiculous" and the other says "it doesn't make any sense" / "check his sources."

Also, off-topic to trades, they did get something else wrong in that podcast related to the expansion draft - they said that a player must be under contract to be eligible and specifically say not a qualifying offer, but that is incorrect. An RFA must only have been extended a QA to be eligible for the expansion draft and it's completely out of the hands of the player at that point. I only mention it because they went on about it for like 3-4 minutes. They were talking about how the Hawks would have to expose Hartman as it stands now, which is technically true, but that will change once they extend Panik and Rasmussen QAs.

I wouldn't move Seabrook unless a NHL forward and d-man are coming back. They have no one to fill his spot in season and absolutely none of the suggests of targets come even slightly close.

Thanks for correcting the time stamp typo.

Didn't know where he got the names of teams he might waive for, other than from same source. And, would those names be out there if the team hadn't asked for them before shopping him? That assumes, of course, this is good info from that source.

He's a left wing that knows the system, and has (or at least had) good chemistry with the core players

No problem - I was confused at the 28 min thing since the whole podcast was 28:34, but it's all good because it was an interesting listening.

It's possible they did ask, but they just didn't mention that was what happened. If it didn't, I would assume the source could be close to Seabrook, not the team.

I do know Konroyd and Pat had a man crush on Tanev last night, I thought it was weird how they kept going on and on about how well he plays, hmmmm, imagine me scratching my chin in deep thought.

Burrows and Tanev for Seabrook, and you can still trade for a left wing?

That's a tough trade, glad I'm not Stan

That was cool. Loved the montage clip for him. Definitely a dumb move by the owner letting him walk for what...a couple hundred thousand...500k a year?

I don't remember but letting Roenick walk was the first move of several that ushered the Dark Ages into the UC.

I don't think he was ever quite the same after Hatcher went knee to knee on him but he was definitely one of my all time fave Hawks.

- HawkintheD

What nobody remembers, or perhaps never knew, was that Roenick was making 1.5 as his agent was negotiating with WWW who offered to tear up the contract right then and there and pay JR 3.5. When JR and his agent refused that WWW said to show him what the market was. So JR played another year and a half at 1.5 and eventually shot his mouth off to WWW and in the press, which is when WWW pulled the rip cord on JR. So after JR left what did he sign for? Swear to God, 3.5 million per.

I'm not trying to defend WWW as there were multiple reasons people didn't like him and they all had valid reasons. But I think it's safe to say JR wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, and there's more than just this that makes it pretty obvious to those in the know.

Personally I wish JR never left. He'd be in the rafters for sure. But ya never know, time heals wounds. I also think if Larmer never gets his sweater up there it would be a friggin shame.

If Seabrook is really available and if he has a 10 team No Trade , id bet the Oilers and Leafs and Habs are on the "OK" list because of their young talent. Id start my bidding war with them .

Alll those guys from that era would have been great to stay the whole time. Belfour , Hasek, JR, Chelios, LARMER , all of them left too fast .

From JJ

Hearing Hawk "interest" in Michael Stone may be a diversion. Real targets Schenn or Connaughton who fit better under cap regardless.

- mrpaulish

I don't see why we'd be interested in either one of these guys.

If you remember, when Hatcher blew out JR's knee is when the hawks got Savvy back from the Lightning and 18 led the team in scoring that playoff year.

The Oilcans wold be the most interested team in Seabs - right hand shot, leader, they need somebody to QB their PP. Great fit. I just don't know who the Oil have that would be of great interest to the Hawks.

I haven't heard a single guy in a rumor that I could figure out why they'd want.

I hoping Stan if he is working on one, is much better than rumors.

I had my fill of bad trades last year MTL, and the year before PHL. Enough with bringing in garbage Vets for youngsters.

Just to be clear, Seabrook has a full NMC so he doesn't have to provide a 10 team list. He may have a list that he'd be willing to waive to, of course, but there is no official list and he could revoke his willing to waive at any time (Hamhuis and Hartnell are two recent examples).

That's interesting and didn't know, but I do remember hearing the other parts and that JR shooting his mouth off to the press and Wirtz was I believe what bought his ticket out of town.

I'm not in the know but JR's got enough tape out there that suggests he wasn't going to work for NASA after he quit lacing up his skates.
