Glad to see that Bill thought they played well but I'm not going to get overly excited about it because, well, it was the Islanders and because they were horrible on Saturday.
Need to see some consistently good effort. - Scoob

Well, technically no one gets scratched for Vandevelde.
As it is written: And on the 8th day, the LORD looked upon the Philadelphia Flyers and saw that they lacked a winger who can skate up and down the left side with little to no skill. And the LORD tooketh a rib from Derrick Smith and from that rib He created Chris Vandevelde. And the LORD declared: VANDEVELDE shall play all Flyer games and he shall kill penalties from this time on until the final trump is sounded! And the people of Philly cringed, but thus was the word of the LORD.
And it was evening and it was morning of the eighth day. |

Cousins has played well since being inserted into the lineup. He won a lot of battles along the walls last night, I like his effort to be a little more creative with the puck. - ClaudeFather
Weise was brought in to be PP2 net front guy and he can't break the lineup now. So coach has to find someone to fill that role. I'd bet if he used VdV this place would go nuclear.
Read, Raffl, or Cousins that's who he has unless he wants to put Simmonds out there for the full 2 and gas him. Read is too small really, Raffl could do it but he's better off the perimeter it seems so that points to Cousins. |

All in all, it's been a very disappointing season so far. - BiggE
Disappointing as a fan but not unexpected as a realist. Had I fallen asleep just before game 1 this year and someone woke me up this morning, looking at the standings this is right about where I'd expect to see them. |

I have no problem with it, not expecting much from PP2 regardless and I'm not playing a guy because he was brought in to be a PP2 net front presence. Grab your popcorn and take a seat in the presser. |

Also, if you switch JT's OT for Giroux's last night, G is getting ripped apart.
1) At the end of a shift, attempts to carry the puck up the wall and turns it over.
2) After the turnover, wearily/lazily sort of skates back towards his goal.
3) Goes to the far post to cover no one, making the defender try to take away the wrap-around, pass, and shooter at the goal.
When it's JT, we all say, "Yeah, but he was at the end of a long shift, he was gassed." If it was Giroux doing it, we'd be talking about how lazy he is and what a terrible sequence it was. - jmatchett383
He should be getting ripped on the Islanders blog (if there is one lol) |

If it was up to me:
PP1/PP2
Ghost/Streit
Jake/Provorov
Giroux/Konecny
Schenn/Schenn
Simmonds/Couturier
Unlike Simmonds, Schenn doesn't kill penalties, and he's what? 25? There is no reason he couldn't play the entire pp.

I especially like three things about this:
1) PEB failing to knock down the pass
2) PEB succeeding at knocking down his own defender (Provorov?)
3) PEB being out against Tavares at 3-on-3 OT
Seriously though, stopping Tavares on a breakaway twice in a game should elevate you to at least adequate, or AGSM. |

Swore the game was over as soon as JT got the pass on his stick. Good to see Mase make the big save - arichardson22
It was big save.
Like someone else just said, PEB shouldn't be out there against JT in OT. |

I am not sure how i feel about that statement. JT being out there way to long and yet PEB is still 2 steps behind.

If I remember correctly, and I am pretty sure I do, it was PEB and Amac. Because why not have those two out there in a 3v3 situation.
Also, Amac dove to try to poke Tavares in a last ditch effort. Go figure Tavares would get a breakaway in OT with those two on the ice..
Awesome game though. Good to see them win. |
