OR option 2 they put them out together and they score. I'd probably agree to split them up in ot for balance but Philly puts out girioux and vorachek and we countered with jt and quine

Just another reason as to why the isles need a winger for JT.

Greiss (i think is 30yrs old without looking) Dont u think he'll look for a security contract maybe like a Dubyk deal? He's bounced around the league forever...
- Ur Not Me

Maybe he will maybe the isles sign him longer to start for a year or 2 then groom sorokin and back him up eventually . Time will tell but they still need help for jt more than a replacement for halak

Agreed and funny how some miss that that combo worked last year...

I think the focus needs to be on playing the best goalie and that did not happen early in the season. If Halak showed he was healthy at the Worlds and still could not be traded, then Berube needed to go. Showcasing Halak did not to help his Cap number. Sitting Greiss and giving Halak all those games when Halak was struggling was just dumb.

Please for you doubters how is Greiss Different?

For starters he is 30 yrs old and most good goalie in league are in the 27-28 age.

Dubnyk I guess is a journeyman too. Not everyone gets to their are the same way. Also did you that Ben Bishop (also age 30) was a journeyman goalie too traded to tampa by Ottawa for Corey Conacher?

you mean journeyman goalies like tim Thomas or Dominick Hasek?

what matters is what has Greiss done in Isles Sweater. he has a better than 0.925 save percentage, as steady as it gets. He is the most consistent islanders goaltenders since Roberto Loungo.

He is one of the biggest brightspots on this ytd disappointing team.

Not sure but didnt Bishop come up in OTT system and only play for TB besides OTT?
OTT had Anderson & Lehner in organization that they felt is better, plus Bishop at the time was 25-26yrs old

Hasek became an all-world G in Buff before moving onto DET & OTT as he was approaching 40yrs old

Tim Thomas was not a journeyman G, his NHL career was with BOS and spent a short stint w/Dal & FLA, so I wouldnt call him journeyman

Drafted by Blues, Went to University of Maine. moved to Ott then traded to Tampa. (Same school as Cappy, Snow and isles goalie coach mike Dunham) and even they thought he wasn't good enough.

100%.......and now you have Landeskog, and Duschene on the block and not a peep. I've said this many time before, but, even if you have to "lose" on the head to head of a trade, you must give up to get one of those players available. Prospects are plentiful, and now is the time to part with one or two. Those types of players do not come around that often, and they are both EXACTLY what this team needs.

Years ago Strome was discussed on here and fans were putting him on the do not trade list. Now look at him.......half way to bustville. Pulock couldnt make the team out of training camp, yet he was the isles best d prospect. Barzal couldnt make the big club, and he's the best forward prospect. To me, no prospect is untouchable. You gotta give to get...

check again, Raised in Davison, Michigan, Thomas played college hockey for the University of Vermont for four years, from 1993–1997, during which he was drafted 217th overall by the Quebec Nordiques in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft. He played for several years in the minor leagues and Europe, before making it to the NHL at age 28, with the Boston Bruins. He finally emerged as the Bruins' starting goaltender at age 32. Thomas is a two-time winner of the Vezina Trophy (2009 and 2011) as the league's best goaltender, and was a member of Team USA in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.[1] Thomas won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the most valuable player in the 2011 Stanley Cup playoffs

Im pretty sure this is definition of Journeyman

Ur the clown one could argue lundqvist is the best goalie the past decade and what's he won? What's Carey price won? Who won the cup last year? Matt Murray, what's bishop won? Some of the best goalies in the league haven't win a cup oh here's another Brayden holtby. Ur a tool your argument is weak oh here's another one halak won the isles how many playoff series? Greiss has at least won them a round and he did so standing on his head

Hasek was originally drafted by the Black Hawks in the 10th round of the 1983 draft. (I cheated and looked it up.) He was in his late 20s when he became a star in Buffalo. Lots of goalies develop late. Calling someone a "journeyman" doesn't advance the discussion.

Unless Col is being completely unreasonable, Isles need to get one of these guys. You get that wing for JT you can then focus on the 2nd line and use Barzal as 2C next year.

No I don't think we outplayed them but we had plenty of chances to win the game in 3rd. The 2 PP in third one of which we had play in zone for full 2mins.

Greiss is a game stealer, Mason is not. Greiss has given us this play all year, Mason has been a sub .900 goalie for last 10 games.

Lets win tomorrow night and Thursday and we will be right in mix, I feel like Caps game Saturday will be impossible feat. They are thirsty for revenge.

I would give up a roster player, a prospect, and the first. I dont care if thats techinically overpaying......you gotta get one of those two.

That was aimed at a few that think we need to go sign a big name goalie mainly ur nor me while thinks we need bishop. Very similar numbers and greise will be chaeper. This team needs to spend money elsewhere

Isles need to put this wing for JT to rest. Kill it with fire. Get it done now. I would try with Hamonic and maybe MDC first and then maybe add the #1.

nope we just had a slight disagreement on goalies and what a journeyman is as well as what makes a good goalie
