You guys have to clue me in on weights post game. I have the flyers feed.
- Isleshockeyman

Here's my post game, the coaching change surge is over, they were right back to turning over the puck and were out chanced, out played, and looked as if Crappy was behind the bench and a change wasn't made.
2-0 lead in the first and lose, back to normal.

Edit: Thomas Greiss once again tremendous in goal or else this is over a lot sooner.

Imagine how good this team could be with a real coach. Wright said he would tweak Crappy's system. That lasted all of 2 games.

Weight said they had another slow start.....he said "sluggish", but then took it back and said they just didn't have the jump.

Honestly IHM, they could have put Ses, behind the bench and the change would have kicked them in the ass, it always does.

I know it does. That's why I was saying after the first win to pump the brakes. There's always an uptick after a coaching change. Apparently Weight doesn't have his own system. That's why he tweaked Crappy's.

Weight also talked about benching Strome for a couple of shifts when Strome (frank)ed up.

I didn't see the 1st JS but, the Islanders couldn't match the Flyers speed and weren't that good. Greiss earned this team another point. Without him The Islanders were toast imho.

The first half of the first period was like last night's game. Isles looked like the more tired team. The second half of the first period was more even, and the Isles were lucky to come away with a one goal lead.

For whatever reason, the Isles have always seem to have difficulty with the Flyers' aggressive, physical style of play.

True but the Isles out hit the Flyers and I think it's because the Flyers were on the puck and the faster team most of the night.

I agree that the Flyers are the faster team, in addition to being the more physical team.

As far as hits, that is a highly subjective stat, kept by the home team. I don't give it much credence, although you are right that you can't hit unless you're chasing the puck. Also, Casey and Clutter tend to make up for the hits not thrown by most of our other forwards.

Agreed. The Flyers' forecheck gave the Isles problems getting out of their own zone for much of the game.

I think Weight will get more out of them than Crappy did. 5 out of 6 points isn't so bad. They really had no business picking up the point tonight. I don't know if Weight has a system or not. He's been around long enough to have some ideas. Even if he does he can't just change everything in a few days mid season.

Tuesday will be a tough game. I hope they come out with more jump, not that it will matter in the end.

I'm not going to hammer Weight about tonight. The guy is not going to perform miracles with this team. This team looked spent tonight. Next week will be tough. Let's see how the do. Would be nice for Nelson to be clutch for once.

I just think that a team will always get a kick in the ass once their coach is fired, whether they liked him or not, it just motivates everyone to get it in gear no matter who comes in to replace him.
As far as Weight and his coaching style, he's a great guy I have spoken to him a couple times at charity events and truely there's nothing not to like about him personally. His coaching record for me has been his success or lack there of of the teams PP for as long as he's been the PP coach. Looking at that and that alone I don't know if he's a good coach. His record there says he's probably not.
That said the Islanders tonight reverted back to the team we saw when Crappy was coaching them so for me Weight needs to get this team playing back to where they were in Boston and against The Kings, this Tuesday against a very good CBJs team.
That will tell me a lot about Dougie Weight and how well he can coach this team. They don't need to win but they need to play a better brand of hockey then tonight and show me some guts.
Just my opinion of course.
