A bird does not sing because it has an answer. It sings because it has a song. A bit of fragrance clings to the hand that gives flowers. A book is like a garden carried in the pocket. A gem is not polished without rubbing, nor a man perfected without trials.

miller said after the game the ice was the worst hes ever seen it, the winning goal was the first time the puck stayed flat and the ice was soft as poope so he couldn't get the push he needed to get over, I thought so watching the game guys were falling for no reason.

And just so you know, half the fun is the banter back and forth about "I know more than you". Some people do however have better insight on singular subject matter, thru experience or research, than others on here.

The world would be pretty boring and vanilla if we all agreed on everything.

thats right ....and we'd never go forward either with all the lack of individual thought

ya there shouldnt be any head hanging from that game. They kept it close against a powerhouse team.
- SMBDragon

Right. Bo so close to proving a different narrative with his goal. Too bad it's another point that got away again. Bubble life is fickle like that. No participation awards. Darn results.

WELL compared to what?

I thought the agreement was we all want the roster to improve.

The how to do that. Plus what level team is at now is the banter of differing opnions.

Every time before a game there is the predictable postings of a blow out. That the team will be back to reality of how bad it is by the superior slapping it will take.

But despite all these predictions. This group keeps games close more often then not. Comes back often. Has rarely taken a night off and been spanked. So there are things to like.

AS much as it sucks that they aren't any longer an elite Cup contender. The Nucks are competing and developing a solid work ethic and attitude. This can be carried over by the younger players. It all benefits the next core group.

Compared to a contender I guess. That's the benchmark right? We've all seen our team be the best in the league. We've seen them make the playoffs. We've seen them go far into the playoffs. But we haven't seen our team win the only prize that matters.

I'm not so impressed with a winning streak during the dog days of the schedule. You see competitiveness, I see lack of consistency. You see work ethic, I see a team fighting to keep up. You see a great youth core, I see bo horvat and a bunch of kids doing well in juniors and collegiate hockey. Hell, folks are talking about the possibility of Hutton being traded.

Difference in perspective. I've grown into a pessimist and probably won't change until I see substantial improvement.

You mean the ones who have multi-events and don't set up proper for hockey.

I've been female doging for years now but I still find it hard to believe this franchise was unable to come out of the 2011/12 season with so little. I'm not talking hardware either. I'm talking about turning assets into future assets.

I think it was you who mentioned about being 4 years away from being 4 years away. That's what's driving me so crazy. Since 2011/12 season this franchise has been stumbling around trying to find magic again. That's five seasons right?

There was a window and it closed. It's over so stop chasing it. Get on with what needs to be done.

I thought for years we match up fine against the Hawks.
They have the finish that we lack. Otherwise its closer than many think.

I've been around for a while and let me tell you this club has sucked more then it had success over the years. The Sedin era you make note of was great but not the norm. They had lunch bucket mements '82 run. Talent nexus rides '94 and West Coast Express.

But I remember more taleted teams with worse results from the MESSIER, BURE, Molgeny etc that the term COUNTRY Club come from. But misused on this group. I can tell you early Sedin era no one saw the team developing into an elite group. It started with goaltending and assembling quality six deep D back then. Before you knew it there were 3 forward lines that could score.

I get your point. There isn't consistency of results which is expected from a non elite team. I don't see it all rosy. There is a ways to go. But there are some signs here and there. Individual player improvements. It's not a great youth core. But some blocks are forming. There are some surprises amongst young players who didn't have the can't miss headlines behind them. Transition has a lot of uncertainties. Part of the ride. So if they can keep putting the pieces together then maybe you'll see it again.

well they did hold the sedins at bay really well. So the game plan and handed out assignments on them worked

Great, new regime. When a franchise is about to undertake one of the most important restructuring periods in its history you want to make sure you give it to people who have never done anything remotely like it before. That's the kind of out-of-the-box thinking we need.

Massive roster turnover? It's not just about moving players, it's about what you get in return. This team was and still is unable to get the best value out of their greatest assets. It's a long and cherished tradition with our team. Management waits too long to convert. Benning has moved many players out but I'm not overly impressed with the results. Is the roster any more "fresh" than it was 2 or 3 seasons ago? You send players out and then replace them with miller, vrbata, and eriksson? Doesn't really scream change to me.

Drafting well? Your assessment or has that been proven?

I expect more than mediocrity.

The theory behind 4 lines is more resilient to match ups.
On the road if not 2 scoring lines going good or bottom lines don't perform well usually a loss occurs. 3 lines deep is a force anytime. 4th line cinches it.
WD likes the 4 line approach but we r not quite there yet. Its on JB to keep giving WD the talent & depth he needs. WD is JB's hiring & for JB to make it come together.
