Brodie would make more sense for St. Louis as well. Blues aren't going to give up Shattenkirk+ for another right hander. We're set with Pietro & Parayko on the top 4, Hamilton isn't enough of an upgrade on either to give up a blue chip prospect or a first along with Shatty. If Blues are looking to get a defenseman back, it would be a top 4 LHD.

I have no doubt that GMTM is interested in Duchene but stop making all these trade propositions without taking the cap into consideration...salary would have to go to fit Duchene (Guhle, Girgensons, and a 1st ) this trade does not clear enough cap room to fit 6mil.
Guhle is what Buffalo needs, a puck moving defenceman but a stud I doubt. Girgensons needs change without a doubt. I just don't see Buffalo having the right pieces to make this trade.

Hamilton is much more valuable as dman than Shattenkirk. He's younger, bigger, better defensively, signed for 5 more years and close to as good offensively. His advanced stats are better than Shatty's too.

Trad stats:

Shatty: 47g 11g 21a 32 -14 18 points on the powerplay.

Hamilton: 48 7g 23a 30 -3


Why would Shattenkirk be perceived as more valuable in this trade? 1st rounder definitely goes to Calgary, but maybe not from Boston, from St. Louis. Still, if I'm Calgary, wouldn't trade Hamilton for a prospect/first. Why? Calgary needs Hamilton more than almost any prospect plus a first round crap shoot pick (about 35% chance he turns out to be a regular NHL player). This trade would be dumb dumb dumb for Calgary. Hamilton is an excellent, excellent player.
