Yup, and the US supposedly underwent a separation of church and state a while ago, so allowing religious dogma to dictate policy is absolutely ludicrous. - lumlums
Now, if there is a policy that is based in religion but applicable and relevant, then sure - go for it. I do however find it somewhat funny that many of the religious right wing folks who are so vehemently pro-life are equally passionate about keeping the death penalty

Perhaps it brings back fond memories (imaginary or ancestral?) of the good ole days of the witch trials. If the person isn't a murderer, then they'll survive the electricity or lethal injection....Oh wait, that's not right... nevermind.

You have ranted before about people being unable to consider alternative opinions that differentiate from their own views. Something along the lines of people only surrounding themselves with others that share similar views and dismissing anything that doesn't share that view...Sound familiar?
Now you are saying you're going to ignore the facts that suggest the "Trump showergate story is false" and choose to believe it simply because it matches what you believe to be his character. You are dismissing any evidence you aren't predisposed to agree with. Rather hypocritical. - Thecakeisalie
I disagree with you here fundamentally. I am 100% open to new ideas and to hearing people argue against mine. That said, I do not have to be open to all ideas, or bad ideas. I make active attempts to avoid being in a bubble.
While there are facts that cast the Trump Document as possibly fraudulent - for example this is information that is subjective and given through multiple people, and we don't know who these people are. It is also from a private security firm and not government agents. However, there are also facts that cast it as possibly believable - for example Trump's behavior, his history of sexual rumours, allegations and on video admissions. Also, the agent who compiled it is widely respected and the agencies felt the need to brief the President on it.
It could be true, could be false. My opinion is that it's likely true - I mean, it would be so easy to smear Trump without saying some of those things - but I don't know. When I claim something IS true, as opposing to THINKING it might be, there is a huge difference.
By the way Tanner, congratulations on the Capitals blogger position.
I may not see eye to eye with you all the time, but this doesn't mean I actually dislike you or anything. Even though many of the posters argue with you, one thing you are good at is generating conversation and hits, so nice job. - Thecakeisalie
Hey thanks man. I appreciate your taking the time to argue. In case it hasn't been made explicitly clear, I have no desire to talk to people who just agree with me all the time.

Just an FYI you come off as belligerently intolerant and closed minded

I guess I just get the impression you made up your mind to believe the story before actually researching it at all. This is a biased and non logical way of thinking and seems to go against what you normally preach.
Also the last thing I'm going to say about this is this: One writer said basically that in their own experience "there is no source of whom you need to be more skeptical, and whose information you need to verify to the letter before you can even begin to think of publishing it, than an “intelligence” source."
Just because this story was generated by a former British agent that now has his own investigative firm does not actually give it much credibility. It was pointed out that these companies are hired to find dirt on someone and they basically send any rumors, or even conjecture they come up with themselves, to their employers. Bear in mind that this investigative team has an agenda and a bias because they were being paid by Trump's opponents to find information they could use against him (I doubt there were any nice stories sent such as him being nice to old people or children).
This doesn't necessarily make what they said false, but it does mean that without further evidence you shouldn't simply take it as truth.
Perhaps the writer that made the article I'm quoting had their own agenda, but I feel that what they've written makes a lot of sense.
P.S. I may have slipped a Happy Gilmour reference in here. Edit: Damn. Different golf movie - it was Tin cup!

If the guy didn't spend five years racistly telling people Obama was not American, then maybe I'd be predisposed to doubt the veracity of anything this hilarious.

Oh well. I agree it's a funny story.
On another note, did you see the Jimmy Kimmel show the other day when he covered the inauguration ceremony? I loved the part where Bush was trying and failing to cover himself with a rain poncho. Just hilarious.
Apparently Trump's speech was so bad it looks like Bush was trying to suffocate himself in the last two frames.

I think Cheney is hard in the last one watching the life seep out of W.

Cheney... So smug for bringing his cowboy hat with its huge brim to help keep the rain off.
I love the contrast between Bush being so hilarious fumbling with the poncho and Obama that has that long suffering look on his face like he is just counting down the seconds until he can get the (frank) out of there.
How is saying Obama is from Kenya racist ? Anyone ? - rinaldo
Perhaps it's not racist entirely...More like just inaccurate. Obama was born in Hawaii. His father was from Kenya. It would be like someone saying Trump was from Germany just because some of his ancestors were.
I think there was more to this than just Trump saying Obama was Kenyan though.
