HRC lied did she not ? Obama has lied has he not ? All politicians lie . It's a fact

When did he threaten minorities ? Can you please elaborate.

- rinaldo

False comparisons don't help. Yes, all politicians lie, but Trump has lied more than any other politician in American history. That is not "fake news" but independently documented and true. He also lies about things he's on video saying, or that he himself tweeted. On top of which, he calls any unflattering truth a lie, which is in itself the worst kind of lie.

As for threatening minorities:
Trump's chief of staff is Steve Bannon - a guy who runs a fake news hate site that literally does threaten minorities. That is my elaboration.

I can kinda understand people thinking he's a threat to minorities what with his idea of passing stricter immigration laws and wanting to deport illegal immigrants, but what I find crazy is how much people seem to think he's going to be a threat to women's lib.
What, do people think he's going to try and abolish the women's vote or something???
Oh I see, because he allegedly doesn't respect women, that means men all over America will decide it's ok for them to do the same. I find this insulting as a man that because Trump might not treat women well, men everywhere are going to follow suit.
Just like when Clinton was caught having an affair in the white house all the men in the U.S. decided, "well if Clinton can cheat on his wife, I can guess I can too!" Oh wait, that never happened, because people don't all just blindly do the same as the president in their everyday lives...
It seems a little ironic to me that the Democrats were all going on about Trump's campaign being about fear mongering during the election, yet that seems to be all we get from the Democrats and the media that supports them since the election occurred.
It is getting ridiculous.

As for how his term will affect Canadians...I've heard speculation that it might actually be beneficial for our economy depending on the policies that get set. There is a lot of talk about raising tariffs and taxes with other countries, but considering how economically tied our two nations are, not to mention the oil pipelines, he may not raise taxes on imports from Canada, which would give us an economic edge on other importers to the U.S.

Well the joke originally goes "whats the difference between a squaw and a hockey player..."

And you of all people should be aware of the subjectivity of humour! Most people get a kick out of that one, it seems to be a pretty good joke

Wait, your defense of why the joke is funny is that it's usually more racist?

Like I said, I don't believe in getting upset about jokes, but that doesn't mean there isn't a time and place for certain ones. I don't sit my kids down to watch Louis C.K or George Carlin.

It's more the fact that he has Pence on his team - and Pence has a long history of prehistoric women's rights rhetoric, combined with multiple votes against legislation to ensure equal pay for equal work. A lot of the worry from the LGBT community is for a similar reason - Pence has a long, storied history of either proposing or supporting legislation that would remove existing rights or ddeny future rights.

As for Canada, his support of the pipeline should create new business, but his desire to repeal NAFTA (which I believe already favours the US with regards to Canada-US trade) has some potential pitfalls, not least to do with people currently in the US on NAFTA visas (my wife and I being there as such). Canada of course is a major supplier of oil to the US, and so an new trade agreement could, if not done properly (and d owe trust Trudeau on this?), screw over Canada for this alone.

For myself, anti-science and anti-truth rhetoric is the most worrying. Human-influenced climate change being real and vaccines being safe are two examples of things that have been empirically proven, and yet he refuses to draw that line in the sand - that is massively worrying to EVERYBODY, not just those in the US or Canada...

Well I heard from an infamous blogger that no topics should be off limits. What better forum for telling that specific joke than hockeybuzz, where everyone is a white adult male (apologizing in advance for assuming gender pronouns)

And sue me, yes I think racist jokes are funny if they're constructed well, which I think that period joke is.

I can definitely see why the LGBT community is worried, just like immigrants and those that aren't full status Americans living in the country.

My reference to Canada was that there are some reasons why he may want to deal with us less harshly than elsewhere. We have some leverage, such as the pipeline they want to stretch right through our country, and hurting Canada's trade may damage America's own (a bigger impact than what they might face with others).

I am not saying I don't have my own worries. Yeah, he'll probably really screw over the environment and might start a war with China.
There are causes for concern, I just dislike the things that I don't see real validity for that are being thrown around. I don't like bullpoop and I think a lot of anti Trump people are throwing around a lot of bullpoop now.

I would say that this advert calling for the death penalty for 5 minority teenagers who were shown later to be wrongly convicted should suffice, no?

And it's difficult to quantify whether he has lied more than any politician in history, but we can say with certainty that he is a serial - and compulsive - liar.

Here’s another long rant I hope people can forgive me for. Considering everything said on hockeybuzz and this blog in particular…

On a whim one day last week, I researched into the whole “Trump showergate” thing. Funny enough it started when I was researching on hockey stats and saw a link to an article about it. So it's all your fault Tanner!

I ended up wanting to discover the validity of this and so I ended up reading over a dozen articles from a variety of sources. Some were defending Trump, some vilifying him, and some were more about speculating on the truth of the matter.
My rather informed decision after wading through all that crap: I think the story is probably not true. I can’t be certain as it’s tough to sort truth from fiction in the news these days, but this is my final opinion.

Now, if in truth the story about Trump and the Russian hookers doing the golden shower thing is totally made up, it gives a different viewpoint when he dissed CNN. CNN after all, without really verifying anything, aired the story and credited Buzzfeed. They even admitted they hadn’t actually verified any of it. If you research you will see this is why no other news sources used this story despite it circulating for several months before Buzzfeed "broke it".

If this story actually wasn’t true and you were in Trump’s shoes and then were expected days later to make nice and answer questions from a news source that had been spreading such ridiculous lies about you, would you be happy to just pretend it never happened and calmly answer their questions? Personally, I’d have been very temped to call them out too. Even knowing that the political thing might be to just play nice, it would be very satisfying to call them out and then ignore them.

Hey here’s something funny, see the following quote from last year and then read who said it: “Fake news will become more sophisticated, and fake, ambiguous, and spun-up stories will spread widely,” warned an important American editor at the end of December 2016. His name: Ben Smith. His publication: BuzzFeed.

Oh, Smith also was quoted himself saying, “there is serious reason to doubt the allegations.” No one cares though, because they already hate Trump and want to believe this since it aligns with their views, rather than discover the truth.

Sorry Lums, I gotta call you out on this article for the following reasons:

1. They were wrongly convicted - This is not the first time people have been wrongly convicted by the U.S. legal system. Others have also been convicted of murder and not all of them were minorities. Wasn't there a big story just a few months ago about two guys wrongly accused that sat in jail for like 20 years?

2. They are minorities and Trump is calling for bringing back the death penalty - Do you think Trump wants to bring back the death penalty only for non-whites? Even if he's racist, I'm pretty sure he's not blatantly obvious enough to call for a death penalty only for minorities.

This article is not proof that he is a threat to minorities unless you want to suggest the death penalty would affect more minority people because they'd be more likely to be convicted of a crime resulting in a death penalty verdict.

If you're rating anything good on a ginger scale, it has to be based on Sarah Rafferty, not Ron Weasley.

EDIT: If you want to call it the "Fred Weasley memorial Sarah Rafferty scale" Then that would be okay also.

There had been multiple instances of white folks who had committed similar - if not worse - crimes, and yet nothing from him on those? Honestly, I think the only reason he does this is their race. His comments over the past year or so should be enough to confirm what he thinks of people of colour and the neighbourhoods in which they live.

I think you've likely listened to a lot more of his speeches and that of his opponents than I have, so I'll take your word for it. It's not like I really doubt he is racist...or that he cultivated the votes of racist factions.

What are you talking about? If you are this ill-informed, you should be doing some research before giving your opinion.

Here is a link to Trump's politi-fact score card. As you can see, only an astounding 4% of his statements are 100% true.

http://www.politifact.com...rsonalities/donald-trump/

As for providing proof that he has threatened minorities, please see google his statements about an Muslim Registry, a wall around the border to Mexico, his attempt to discredit a federal judge with Mexican heritage, or his refusal to come out and even attempt to say all these things are misunderstood and that he really is the President for all people.
