Fasching scored the only goal for rochester in a 3-1 loss yesterday

Are people still complaining about Lehner? If so, I'll just duck out now...

I always liked that he could play defense in a pinch too. Seeing as we need a defenseman right now and he's not filling in, that dream is dead too

i don't even understand why goaltending is being discussed at all.. That has been the most consistent position we have had all season.

Spending a first round pick on a goalie with an above average save percentage isnt good enough for some people. All first round picks should be of connor mcdavid quality. Anything less is a loss

There was an interesting article in the paper yesterday about Lehner and the heat he's taken since he wore the backplate on his mask in warmups back in November that said "Trump" on the bottom.

It gave quite a bit of insight into who he is and the scrutiny that these guys deal with on a day to day basis in their lives. I think he's been unfairly judged here in Buffalo by far too many because they feel Murray overpaid for him.

He hadn't even put a Sabres jersey on yet and had been ripped apart by a decent amount of the fan base. I feel like he could be putting in performances like Hasek did night in and night out and people would still complain.

Are there times he could have been better? Sure. But overall, his play hasn't been a problem. Same for Nilsson. I don't think one has been head and shoulders better than the other or worse. I don't have a problem with Nilsson getting more games than a typical backup, but at the end of the day, Lehner is the guy that should be expected to carry heavier load.

I only like his game when he's punching people in the face... Be it a player, ref or dude in the stands.

My issue is this: first round picks should net you a quality roster player, which Lehner is. Now there's variation within that, in that your pick could be connor mcdavid, Marek Zagrapan, drew Stafford, Tyler Ennis or Mark Pysk. We got a quality roster player for a first round pick. That's a judicious use of a first rounder IMO

when it comes to stuff like this, you know you are going to get backlash for it from half the population so thats his fault. I really wish celebrities and athletes would stop telling me how i need to live my life. They are no more qualified than me or my neighbor to talk about politics, however a lot of uninformed people in this country look to them for guidance.

but we could have drafted *insert overachieving player selected below where that pick was*.. all we would have to do is wipe out our crystal ball and know who that player was

I could not disagree with the part in bold more, and it's grown tiresome to hear people constantly complain when celebrities and athletes share an opinion or thought they have.

How is somebody sharing an opinion telling you how to live your life?

Further, because they have a public forum, they are not supposed to have an opinion or share that opinion when asked?

With the way 'facts' are argued in this country, how can anybody be properly informed?

Everyone, whether famous or not, is entitled to their thoughts and beliefs, and we are all just as entitled to ignore it completely if we so choose.

I don't disagree with that at all. But I think what people forget (even when it comes to disagreeing with people they interact with everyday) is that just because someone supports one particular political person, is that it doesn't mean they agree with EVERYTHING that person does or is about. And he actually goes on to say that in the article.

People are so quick to make snap judgments these days without actually having a logical discussion about the topic/person first.

This is by no means me trying to start a political debate either. Because I HATE politics.

I know there has been a comment or two about who best fits the 3rd line and who best fits the 4th line, for example.

The sooner everyone gets away from the old, antiquated guidelines for what 3rd and 4th lines should be regarding composition and usage, the faster the team will be in terms of getting close to being a cup contender.

The way the game is, you want all 4 lines to drive play as much as possible and you don't want any line, even the 4th line, to be one that you just put out there to give the top 3 lines a rest.

That methodology doesn't work anymore.

I agree with this for sure. Just look at the Pens last year. Kessel was on the 3rd line. They took their top talent and spread it throughout the lineup which then creates matchup nightmares for the defense on the other team.

A fourth line should be fast. I don't care about toughness, but they need to have speed. Even if they aren't scoring, speed will generate chances and PP opportunities
