We disagree on the goalie thing.
We agree on this though..

Oh hey look. Giroux has no goals in 11 games now right?
Awesome Jake just flew up the ice , skated past 2 people and did nothing.
Dont even consider trading Coots..After 7:18 but before 8:12 on the third tuesday of every month he leads the league in points..

IM so over the top 4-5 players on this team..Would include Wayne in that right now but hey he is our only fighter.

- opeth_pa

yea but we cannot hold onto simmonds for the long run as much as i love him he'll be probably brunt out by the time this team is good again

Morin -2 again tonight, has worst - on a good Phantoms team that is plus 32 how does anyone think he could help the Flyers? He can't even get out of the negatives on a top team, not just the stats the visual as well. Don't see how he could help when he's struggling down there. Should ask Mononoke as apparently its Gordon whose the problem, then Hak then Hextall. Ghost is now - 19 are we blaming that on Schultz and Manning as well. Hextall will bring up Morin when he's ready even putting him with our best D Provy would not do anything for his confidence or development right now. Agree he has to do something but Morin is not the answer now or he would be here.

Hakstol might be in over his head, but there is no leadership on this team. Not only that, there's not enough offense, defense, goaltending...anything. You can't get blood from a stone. Time to start "firing" some veteran players.

There is offense, it's just slumping as most do. There is leadership, I think G and Simmonds are both grown into the role very well. Goaltending could play better and has. It's time to subtract UFAs and upgrade in those spots.

Outside of Weise who's contributed nothing thus far, Provorov, Konecny, and that great signing Gordon who isn't playing for them, what's really changed? Nothing.

When a team is this fragile and seems to fall apart when facing adversity, how can you not question both the coaching staff and the leadership of this group?

Saint Ronnie has no real plan. His plan is hope the d prospects pan out that's it. He has no clue on how to build a bottom 6; just put guys together see I it works. Has guys playing in spots they shouldn't be .

#14 is not and never will be a 2nd lien center. Ronnie and the coach refuse to believe it.

Ronnie is also afraid to make a serious trade as he has pieces to move and help this team going forward

So does anybody remember jumping down my throat when i said this is what this team would be a few years back? Sorry for the "I told you so moment" no i really do enjoy watching the discussion in here from several of you. Yea you guys are collectively intelligent and articulate. That being said, i never was completely sold on Giroux being the Guy, mark streit not a lefit top pairing and couturier I've always felt was a third liner... Are they terrible players? No not at all but i think they're over valued and this team is showing that season after season. I did not think the goalie situation would be what it was, ffs I hope Stolarz is the real deal. But getting back to our big money players, too much perimeter play and they don't impose themselves on the competition. Take Giroux, jake and couts down a peg and they will look amazing.

On a positive note, the trade chips and prospects are piling up. So I've bought more into hextall but he has to make moves other than making the right draft picks. You gotta sprinkle in some free Agents or tweak the roster with a trade or two. Sitting on his hands won't make this team better. Sometimes the mix of players just isn't right and I think that's quite possibly the case here.

Giroux in his last 18 games.
1 goal -15

Those are numbers any player would be embarrassed of. WTF is the deal with this guy? If he's going to be nothing more than a PP specialist going forward this team has enormous problems.
Coming off a 6 day break and that is the result last night? Get poop on by a bottom feeder on home ice? It's getting old watching the Devils poop on them year after year, decade after decade.

I think Giroux was a legit #1C from 2010 til maybe 2014, but as he's gotten older and gone through some injuries, he's lost a step and now is a 2C who can still anchor a powerplay. I don't think anyone ever thought that Streit was going to be a top pairing guy, rather he was looked at as a 2nd pair guy who could qb the top pp. Again, as he's gotten older, he's slowed down and now, in the last year of his deal, he's a 3rd pair pp specialist.

Couturier really is an enigma. At times, especially at ES and as recently as the first few weeks of this season, he has looked like a legit 2C. However, he really seems to be struggling since he came off IR and going forward with him as one of the top two centers has to be at least somewhat of a concern.

They do though have guys on expiring contracts that would be attractive to a contender, hopefully they move a few of them over the next 6 weeks.

There is no excuse for anybody on this team. Giroux is unfortunately now a #2 centre. He does not seem to be a game changing #1 anymore. Sure a guy can go in slumps, but this is more than a slump. One of the worst offensive teams with their back up goalie beats them badly on home ice after a 6 day break.
Time for a change.

There is a fine line between accepting that your team has some flaws and being a complete douche. The "don't worry in 5 years we'll be good lulz" is SUPER clever guys. Thank you for such a wonderful contribution.

You ate taking what I'm saying out of context. Maybe I carried on like a douche about how i saw the future of this team, I'll give you that, cause ai do have a weird and twisted sense of humor but when it comes to the flyers over the years I thhink I have gotten too carried away emotionally, too high when good, too low when bad. But that doesn't change the fact that I had the foresight to see this team as constructed was going to be mediocre by overvaluing it's perceived core.
