Agreed the Caps are the best team right now (with Pittsburgh)... That being said they 1) will almost definitely run into them in the 1st or 2nd round... We ll see if they win.. Pittsburgh is a Juggernaut with a healthy Letang, vulnerable WITHOUT HIM 2) They need to win a cup (at least make it deep into the playoffs...

In addition the Pens bottom 6 is better...

Just curious, how's that rookie Guetzel doing(probably butchered the spelling)? Is he holding down a spot in the top 6? Your top 6 is Sheary, Crosby, Rust, Hornqvist, Malkin, and him right?

While both of those are hilarious, I can't put them on my all-time comedy list, and I am a huge Vince Vaughn fan:

(no particular order)

Old School
Pop Star
Anchorman 2
Anchorman 1
Ladies Man

No, that would be the 79/80 Flyers who had a 35-game unbeaten streak and lost in the Finals.

Like I said, winning a Cup requires so much luck.
- james_tanner1

Staying healthy is where luck enters the equation. The best teams usually make their own bounces/luck....especially over a 7 game series. Being a regular season monster while consistently underachieving in the playoffs equals exactly the opposite of a "great" team.

Talented team? Sure. I'll say that.

If you cant do it when it counts the most you really arent anything more than another hockey team.

Winning 16 playoff games may require some luck but "one of the greatest teams ever" should be able to at win at least 8
- willi

Yes some luck but mostly skill.
Foolish conversation.
The caps aren't even top all time.

bottom 6 is better but as 4 head to heads have shown, the gap has closed considerably
- bondraovie

I think the gap was closed last year... The Caps could easily have won that second round series... the margin was razor thin

Which is why its luck. Flip a coin, maybe the Caps win by playing no differently.

The gap was closed last season, too. The regular season is not a good gauge of how teams will play each other in the playoffs.

I still think a playoff series will go no less than six games.

The caps are really, really good! And they can beat Pittsburgh in a 7 game series, but I don't think "flip of a coin" is how I would describe it... the pens team speed, especially Hbk was the difference...

Y'all need to put down the Koolaid. Win some playoff games then judge how good the team is.
