Personally I don't care for either.

Don't confuse patience with inaction. MacT was guilty of the latter, not the former.

If you want to make something happen, there's always chances to make it happen. The issue seemed more of him wanting to hit a home-run, rather than being willing to make several smaller deals to inch towards where you wanted to be.

That's not fact at all.
I'm sure he could've made any number of moves for those forwards.

At the very least we don't know what was discussed or offered.
Plus, he came in at a time when they were still building that core and it wasn't apparent they couldn't get it done. Banking on your own guys is always the prudent move in a cap/draft system. At least initially.


He moved for perron. He moved for pouliot. He moved for Ference.
Etc.

Mact wasnt actually a bad gm. Did alot of pretty standard stuff actually. But he'll be remembered for the missteps

The thing you're missing is that there isn't really a 1 and 2 tandem in Edmonton. The top 4 play relatively equal minutes, because the guys they're projecting as the future top pairings are all still too young and therefore play a lot of time on pairings with Sekera and Russel. Thank God for Mclellan because previous coaches would been playing them 25+ and destroying them.

Yeah, we have similar. When we had Dion he was playing 25+ and it really didn't work.

And Rielly is a better Dman than Larsson IMO (though he definitely is far from perfect)

They can ask whatever they want. In fact, if they don't, they're not doing their job.

At this point, it goes without saying that he's the best forward from that draft.

In time, there's a chance that he could be the best player from it, period. And Ekblad is a (frank)ing beaut.

He's certainly superior in transition. And much better in the offensive zone.
Not as dependable down low or at breaking the forecheck imo. A higher ceiling no doubt tho


Also, this is just it. You're not sure about Reilly even. And he's kinda far from the echelon I hoped for hall.
Idve been no less frustrated it was hall straight up for Reilly.
