You're not one of those fans that losing became ingrained in their lives so deeply that now they have turned the corner and are a pretty good team you just cannot accept it?

Yeah, I agree. I'd love to have him as he kills secondary competition and produces like mad on the PP.
- MaximumBone

More than that, he has the skill, skating and puck movement to do just fine against the top competition too

Every team that has won a cup the last decade has had one.

I don't think I would consider Letang one

Depends on what would have to be given up for him.

Because he's a moron that makes moronic trades.

How can you argue in the face of a technically sound analysis like that?

Pretty good isn't good enough. Need to resign Drai and then a bunch next year including McDavid. We will never win a cup with Chia at the helm.
- Iggysbff

You usually need to be pretty good before you become very good. With the salary cap there is little chance of any team becoming great and staying there for an extended period of time. The Hawks have done an amazing job over the past 7 years but no longer are a great team mostly due to the cap. In fact I don't think there are any great teams in the league, there are around 7 or 8 very good teams and then maybe 8 pretty good ones and that's it. Any team that makes the playoffs can get hot and win it all including the Oil.

And some of them weren't projected or expected to be an elite #1. Keith, Chara, and Letang along with whoever was #1 for that Hurricanes team.

A couple of the Canuckleheads got upset that I kept taking their quotes in context, so I went with something neutral to shut their whining...

Letang is an absolute boss. This past year or so he's probably been top five in the league.

They can get yappy alright. Just remind them that their team won a presidents cup and then they start to calm down.

He's manning a line behind two of the leagues very best Cs for the past decade. It really does make a difference. Top 5? I would be highly skeptical of saying that.

The thing with the Pens is that they have three #2 dmen. Letang is great but he's not a true elite #1 in my book.

Holy sh1t

We're a true contender with him.

Anyone save Connor. (I'd do Leon for sure, but we'd have to have some sort of replacement first. He's been huge for us
