We had to play him in the ECHL. Did the right thing and sent him to an organization that had room for him in the AHL.

To be fair though, not having Smid for all of those rough years changed everything. Who knows what the Oilers would look like if they had slightly different draft positioning? Fun to think about. Crazy how trades like that affect the fate of teams for decades.

No iggy trade would mean a good chance at no Mony.
