Idk....I'm thinking about becoming part Capitals fan/part Blackhawks fan....just in case if the Capitals really are the greatest team of all time like James Tanner says, i can get in on some of the fun when they win the Cup...

I remember him being an agitator like a Shaw lite in Washington. I wanted the Hawks to sign him as a FA. Question is does he come up to replace tootoo?
- ikeane

Well...... Going way out in left field with this one, Latta goes to Rockford, Q'sboy Mashintor is coming up here. He did put his 6"4 frame in front of the net here and there . Who knows maybe he improved on some stuff in the Rock for Q to want to take another look.

On the trade front, as much as I like JVR or Landeskog, I'd like to see them make a run at Martin Hanzel, big and can play center or wing and I think he is signed for a bit yet.......But knowing Bowman , he will blow a fart and overpay for someone like Iginla, Sharp or Vanek!

Has anybody seen Mashinter play this year? His game was missing a ton the last time we saw him in Chicago.

Thankfully not. There wasn't a damn thing missing from his game, he just didn't have anything

IF, I Mean IF, Stan Bowman was for some magical way to aquire a kid like Hanzel, and it meant giving up a kid like Hinostroza or Motte plus? And it was a move more made for the future rather than this year, also knowing Bowman has some work to do this summer to re shape the salary structure of the roster, wouldn't that be a better option than giving up 1of those kids for Sharp or Iginla or Vanek? I think so.
The only way I take either of the last 2 and no knock meant to their careers ,is a low round pick, Vanek possibly cost alittle more.
JJ or anyone, is Bowman even looking at a kid like Hanzel or is that an Eklund guess?

My cue for what? Those numbers are right - that line got pinned a lot while facing the Nash line most of the night, but they took advantage of the Bruins not being able to make a full change. Nash got on but neither Spooner or Backes did, so it left Vatrano, Belesky, and McQuaid out there. Vatrano never even makes it into the play and McQuaid fails to notice Hossa until it was too late. Credit to the Kero line that once they had the opening, they capitalized.

That line also wasn't that bad in terms of possession in the 3rd - they were -1/-2 CF in the 3rd, which is alright considering their deep DZ deployment. The Hawks as a whole had a very good 3rd period, highlighted by the goal - played smart hockey and won. Wish they'd done it the first half of the game too, but still, that was a brightside.

Nash-Spooner have been some of the best possession driving players on the Bruins, I'm not surprised they held that Kero line pined. That line doesn't score much but they shutdown player. I was actually surprised the Bruins didn't have Nash on the PAK line - Bergeron's line had trouble with PAK all night (Kane/Panarin were +16, Seabrook-Kempny were +19/20).

Your que for the numbers, inside the numbers, inside the numbers which you provided. Thanks...................

Haven't bothered to look at Bergeron's fancy stats this year let alone his deep, deep, deep stats but he's played with Patarnak and now Vatrano this year neither of which are known for their defensive prowess.

That said I don't think Julien can resist sending him out for as many draws as possible. So despite Bergeron and Marchand there is a chink in the shut down element that line brings.

"Bows", always a good day when you crawl out of the cocoon to enlighten the dregs and unwashed. On that note if one were to get schooled it can't ever be as satisfying as when done so by you.

Would be an honor if you'd share who played well on their edges, who sharpened their skates conducive to the surface that day, who showed proper hip rotation allowing for solid gap control, who did/didn't forecheck in proper alignment and sequence, who is garbage. .... Stuff very few who even earn an NHL paycheck can grasp.

Either would be dandy with Toews, but not holding my breath. Nyquist is bullet fast. He'd be expensive, probably would cost Forsling or Schmaltz +
- kwolf68

Tatar sure, Nyquist no. He puts up nice regular season numbers but has pretty much been a ghost in the playoffs.

Don't distract him now, his multi page analysis of Dale Weises's performance with the Flyers this year is nearing publication. Just waiting for the editor, Q, to sign off on it.

Just read up on Hanzel, like his size but some red flags as far as his health among other things. Oh well, just sit back and see how it unfolds, any ray of hope for this Latta kid down the road, only 25 but I guess plays hard.

Isn't Yeo the heir apparent for Hitch though? Yeo lead some decent Wild teams to mostly meh results. Dubnyk saved Yeo's job for half a season.

The top 4 players in the Plus-Minus department are currently all members of the Minnesota Wild. I guess that's not surprising given their huge +48 goal differential. Ryan Suter is on top of the league with a +30. The best Hawk is Panarin currently at +14.

Jonathan Toews is currently at -2. Coming into this year, his season average for Plus-Minus has been about +21.

Hearing from hockey ops that Schilling/Latta trade is to facilitate a change for both players, who have similar salaries.

They'll probably sell off some of their big contracts like Bishop... not sure if Callahan can be moved with his salary. Johnson, Drouin, Palat all need new contracts. Going to be interesting.

Bad mistake by Stanbo last year, even worse one by Hextall this year.

A remarkable 5 points in 41 games for the Flyboys. I think he was a scratch last night vs the Devils.

They showed some of the Minni game last night on NHLnetwork along with the Caps/Stars...Ducks led 3-2 going into the third and three straight by minni to win 5-3. Yikes they look good right now...

I am still in favor of not adding at the deadline if it means taking on a lot of cap. We already had a 3 million overage bonus last year. I would rather see the team stay under the cap so that the bonuses do not put us over by nearly as much and we don't have to worry about the overage nearly as much. The little bit of space that we have might be enough to cover the bonuses and that means the summer is a lot easier. I think this year has been great for the youngsters but adding at the deadline means for a worse summer. Next year is the year we go for it. Hino, Hartman, Kero, maybe even Schmatlz are all better and improving. You have more cap flexibility because of not having another overage penalty. Maybe we get Shalunov to come over from the KHL and be a contributor (he is putting up Panarin like numbers over there), and you have a chance at having a much deeper team. Maybe you can get Campbell to sign another sweetheart deal, try to get the same from Oduya and or Sharp. Neither of them is in their prime anymore and both loved Chicago. Not saying that all these things will happen but I just think this year adding would be the same as last. Give up pieces at a premium because its the deadline rather than the offseason, and the team still just doesn't have enough. Ride with what we have, maybe we can pull it together and make a run but I think adding this year would be the same as last and it would not put us over the top. in 2015 we were already of the best teams. This team is not the best. They are good yes but not someone you should be picking in the top 3 or 4 teams in the league. Save the money so we do not have an overage. Let the young players improve more. Next year I think is the year to go for it again

I always wonder when I see a seemingly inconsequential trade go across the tape, what the reason for the deal could possibly be.
