fair.
but it's got to taste salty.
That and you can’t expect a quick turnaround if your drafting guys like OJ and boeser with longer development curves. - Tumbleweed
Not all managements will sell their Captain/ best players the last 10 years for scraps, just to take a poop on your own fans and lose on purpose.
must taste salty. Especially when Toronto media runs Matthews out of town like the rest. |

It would be very "Oiler-Like" to expect a 1st round draft pick to play the next season after being drafted. Some of the best players spend an extra year in junior/college. I didn't expect BB/OJ/TD to play the following years. I would expect Boeser to probably sign after his college year is done, Demko to play atleast 1 more full year in Utica before becoming a backup, and Olli playing atleast a year in the AHL before being able to step in and make a difference. These are all best case scenario's in my opinion. |

And that’s fair.
Those guys are probably a few years away from being impactful nhlers; if at all.
So I don’t see the foundation for a quick retool.

agreed. there is more than one way.
But you need to do something right. When you trade for meh players, sign bad players and don’t draft the best players available, then why exactly do you think benning is doing something that will work? - Tumbleweed
yes. but success in one season doesn't mean success in the next.
and one stumble does not mean you are stuck in a rut.
I was against the Shink for Granlund trade, but it has been working out for us so far and it could still work out for Calgary too.
Who says OJ wasn't the bpa? or are your referring to another pick?
it all takes time. time to see if JB's moves work or not.
So Toronto had some years where they did similar and it didn't work out. Is Vancouver's future written in stone because of Toronto's experience? doomed to miss the playoffs and stuck drafting mid first round? I guess we'll see. |

Retool/Rebuild - it really doesn't matter what you call it. Jim Benning and Linden have a vision and I am not sure if it falls under either category. I don't think they have even classified whatever it is that they are doing as anything other than "trying to stay competitive while getting younger/faster without rebuilding". Whatever that means.
The fact remains though, that fans hold no power in the direction in which we would like this team to go. It's out of our control, so we have no choice but to sit back and hope for the best. |

i think you have more displeasure for benning than you're letting on.
if you're team is being run wrong, it doesn't mean you have to be a sheep. you see benning's incompetence. call it out. |

so because Vancouver drafted a player that isn't ready to step into an nhl lineup the season following the draft, JB is an idiot?
No argument that Tkachuk is looking like a great pick.
I'm just amazed at your ability to read the future.

I guess it is all perspective.
and it comes back to the plan. just because his plan is not the same as someone else's, I'm not sure that means there is no plan.
not sure about what you mean by drafting wrong unless you want to list the busts he has picked.
Sucks at signing players? did he not sign someone he should have or signed someone that isn't presently contributing to the team? or because he was unable to land Stamkos?
Ahl team is a mess... huh? does that mean we won't win the cup?

lol have you been to the canucks blog ever? I am not being a sheep, I am being realistic. I like some of the things JB has done, and I have disliked some. What exactly are you looking for me to say? |

BB and OJ are far from wins. Prospects, good ones, but unknown and may bust out. Konecy and tkachuk are clear wins, picked one pick after those guys.
Sutter, grandlund, sven, gud are the core of a mediocre team. Nothing more. - Tumbleweed

Mediocrity if u don't draft D.
More meltdowns in the 3rd in store for u.
Back up goalies don't help either. |

Where's a trade when you need one
We need to start over analyzing something new.

If Subban actually draws in to a few games it's purely for purpose of the 'showcase'. |

Flames needed Tkachuk to step in the top 6.
Lack of prospects after the Shink failure.
OJ is in no rush while he grooms into an NHLer.
Our D is deeper than the Leafs have been in forever. |

I better throw the challenge flag and hope some how the goalie intentionally touched you to call it goalie interference. |
