Good day everyone! I've been reading for a while, but this is my first post.

Can anyone tell me of a trade that was "rumored" or "confirmed by a source" that actually came true? ever??

- CrazyCanuck99

You waited 3 years to post? See you in the Canuck thread

It's funny. When I come to the leafs thread, we have great hockey talks, good hockey banter, logical and mature conversations. You venture off anywhere that isn't the comments of a leaf blog and you turn into a 3 year old

true. I do allow guys like vantel and bj to bring me down to their level. I forget there are some good nucks posters.

Teams that have had some success without going to a full rebuild tend to have had a few huge fa/trade/late round picks as wins.

Dallas – benn, klingberg and seguin
SJ – Thornton and Burns
Bos – Chara & Rask

Vancouver is pretty far from anything like that, though maybe Trymakin is a something in a few years. But overall, I think benning has missed on some key opportunities to speed things up by passing on guys like nylaner/ehers, tkachuk and pastrnak.

Does Ladd have a nmc or ntc?
- zazzle

His whole contract is a ntc. Just like Dustin Brown.

BB is a low 1st round win of a pick. OJ is coming and JV is getting built up again. Just because you don't like our picks and prospects doesn't mean there isn't a rebuild. More to come. Stecher and Tree also add to coversation of found players. Just like Hutton. Sven, Granlund and Guddy young players traded for as well as Sutter who haven't hit prime years. There are changes going on. Only difference no savior player. Not every team has them and they don't exist often in drafts. Certainly not this one.

Unstable in net? That's one of the few reasons the Canucks have won most of their games. If the netminding was unstable then we would be battling the Av's and Yotes for last overall.
- Itsjustarash

Instability as far as the number of goalies used over the last 5 years, not the current level of play.

We suffered through Raycroft, Toskala, Gustavsson, Giguere, Reimer and Bernier so you'll forgive leaf fans for thinking that getting Andersen is like that day the cable company forgot to scramble the porn.

Firstly, the Nucks are not unstable in net (and are light years ahead of the Leafs in that area - pray Anderson doesn't get hurt). Secondly, there is a reason why Corrado was turfed. Thirdly, the Leafs are on their third 5-year plan; the latest one involving burying over $50 million in contracts in the minors or fake injuries - hardly an organizational standard the Nucks should be emulating.

You sure throw out a lot of shade for a fan of a team who's only had one good season since 2004. Why not wait till your Leafs win a playoff round or two and then chirp all you want? Because until that happens the Leafs are still irrelevant to me and most fans around the league.

Handcuffed by Swedish superstar(s), unstable in net, prospects that can't seem to turn the corner, destined for 9th place in the conference. The Nucks are the late 2000's leafs.

I hope for their fans sake that they don't wait 10 years to turn things around, but that won't happen with Benning in charge.

There is no comparison. No matter how desperately you try to say Laffs are doing things better.

They are doing things differently or we are doing things differently.

The Leafs do have some great young players.

The Canucks don't have as many good young players.

When one team or the other wins the cup, that is when I will say they did it right or at least has prolonged success.

If the Canucks miss the playoffs x many years like the Leafs have, I will say it was a massive screw up by the organization.

I think the Leafs are headed in a good direction, buy lets not start pinning ribbons on a pig until it wins something.

Which nhl office ?
Like the league office ?

What do they have to Do with snow and benning having a chat?
How would they know ? Or are you implying they called the league office to alert them that they were going to have a chat??

Or do you mean one of the Canuck/isles NHL offices ?

So snow and or Benning have intentionally leaked it ? Why would they do that without us also knowing the player involved ? Ie: start a bidding war.

Or are you implying someone else within their organization leaked it ?
How long till they're fired you think ??

Yes, I think you are right! But he was strafing rumours like he was playing Halo while running sideways so eventually you would think he would get one.
- Beatle_john

Haha so true. I think he predicted Loui Eriksson signing in Vancouver. Also, people say he called the Jones - Johanson trade. But yeah for the most part it's all garbage.

"Duclair will be top 10 in scoring"

Ouch that has go to sting hearing the news on his demotion

BB and OJ are far from wins. Prospects, good ones, but unknown and may bust out. Konecy and tkachuk are clear wins, picked one pick after those guys.

Sutter, grandlund, sven, gud are the core of a mediocre team. Nothing more.

I agree with most of what your saying.

But this comment is soo damn rich about Boeser and Koneckny considering THAT WAS YOUR PICK.

I'll take this one.

Pretty sure there's a hockey card shop down the street from Ek called "The NHL Office". He probably went in there and the guy was like "I've got too many Vancouver players in my deck here" and Ek's all like "Whoa that's crazy, I've got too many NYI players in MY deck! But what to do about this..."

And that folks is how a rumor was born on this day.

Difference being is we traded down and have 3 prospects in bracco, dermott and dzirarikaarls.

So, our risk is higher, but we still have the potential to have as many as 3 nhl players out of that. Though i wouldn't be surprised if we only dermott makes it.

You clearly know nothing about the Canucks. Do us all a favor and return to the Leafs blog
