I'm assuming you guys will trade Bennet and something for a #1 goalie.

Like Mrazek from Detroit.

Will be interesting to see what we can get for Engs. It's a shame Bouma's contract doesn't end this year. He's playing pretty well in the physicality department lately.

Wonder if Ol' Daryl would take him on his team for a run as 13th forward.

Oh well, I'm sure he'll be back to his perma-injured self by the time next season's TDL rolls around.

I have to be honest I really like Engellend's game. We signed him according to market conditions at the time. Ya too much but rarely are FA's priced below market value. I'm sure he'll be trade bait or sign with Vegas (he lives there) but if we could get him for a decent price, I'd love to see him back.

As for Bouma, I was a fan but that shine has faded quite a bit. Hathaway has taken that grinder role (IMO) and with Ferland playing to his strength, to me he's an easy add-on trade piece.

So I wanted to ask again, if we are a wild card team come TDL, what does the team do?

I agree on Engelland. Like having him around and want him resigned for another couple years.

Besides him I think you trade the older vets for whatever picks you can get. Bring up guys like Kulak and My Man the Jan and give them experience. An influx of youth might not be a bad jolt for this team

Realistically same as a couple years ago. Traded Glencross and did not replace him even though they were in the mix.

Tough call. Team still has a lot of growing to do.

Engs is great and Bouma I certainly agree with. That said, the former has been playing piss poor in this recent stretch and the latter is surprisingly building his confidence back up.

Personal opinion: I would rather trade Engs and Joki, open up our blue line for some Stockton players to step into legitimate roles, and see if the core we have can make it.

The late push last night was a good sign. If they had a minute more, they would have tied it up. The Find-a-Way Flames may be getting their mojo back.

I honestly think they are hiding kulak down there hoping he won't get taken in the draft ...he has played far better than joki and tspoon imo ...Just doesn't make sense why he isn't playing in cgy otherwise

But realistically who will be available to sign??? Bishop will get traded as a rental but will cost a fortune as a FA. Without scouring the net, anyone know who will be (potentially) available as a starter in the off season?

Wideman, Engs, Elliott, and Versteeg are the only expiring UFA contracts this year (CJ excluded). Doubt any playoff team will have room next year for Stajan or Bouma's cap hit.

Won't be easy moving WideDog. Versteeg looks like a fit here..

Who would you trade? Engellund seems like one of our only assets with value.

Miller (lol), Bishop, Bernier, Mason, Pavelec, Elliott, Greiss.

So.. Mason?

We also hold the rights to a goalie that has shut out over 25% of his games played in the AHL.

Why not trade Elliott and a pick for MAF?! It would open up cap space for Pittsburgh and provide them with a quality backup for Murray.

It would provide us with a 1A goalie and his playoff woes are pretty much a thing of the past. He's a great regular season goalie and if he started to choke in the playoffs we have CJ to put in.

Considering our young guys are a few years away from the big club, its actually a pretty good idea the more I think about it. Just sayin'.

First of all, NO!!! Second of all why the hell would we add a pick when Pitt could lose him for nothing?

The last time we got a confirmed price for MAF it was for #6 overall at the draft.

Rutherford can go f**k himself. Here's hoping he's forced to trade Matt Murray.

Goaltending isn't the problem. The problem is getting up for every game every night!! That somewhat comes down to coaching! GG doesn't seem like much of a motivator. There are going to be bad game from every team through out a season but this team seams to been having them quite often. It wouldn't be so bad if they were a mediocre team!! But there not they have shown that they can completely dominate games. So it is vary frustrating when they come up with a dud every 3 or so games. The leaders on this team should take the bull by the horns and get a little pissed off 😡 address the team make everybody accountable. Need to learn from this. I expected a completely different team on Saturday.

I was thinking Bouma should be sent down to the baby Flames. Team needs some sort of kick in the ass. Bouma, with his contract, should be one of the guys held responsible. He is supposed to be a heart and soul guy but has done sweet baby (frank) all since they made playoffs.

What happened to ice time being earned?

I am pissed these guys have been lifeless for half of the last 6 games.

With the Expansion draft, our options are limited. We can't try to acquire players that could help us for a push into the playoffs as well as next season. I think we need to focus on staying the course, and make a move to acquire assets if the opportunity arises.
Moving Wideman, Elliott, Engs and even Ferland need to be considered at the right offer.
Bring up a few of the kids to audition so you have a better gauge for what you need in the offseason. I'm talking Jankowski, Gillies, Rittich, Klimchuk, and Poirier.
Hold onto that 1st rounder this year. We aren't ready to sell high picks unless you make another no brainer trade ie) Hamilton. There is some good prospects in this draft. I'm not buying that this draft is garbage just because there is no uber hyped talent at the top. It's looks very balanced going from the 5th pick right to the 20th. There is a couple gems in there, and one is certain to be available when the Flames hit the podium.
If we get into the playoffs, our own guys need to step up and find another gear to their game. There's been too many passengers this year and we have the ability to win a few rounds simply by internal growth, without selling assets.

This team needs to hurry up and figure out if it's a contender or not. In the long run, if they can get their game back to where it was, having a slump where you play a bunch of garbage hockey and still go .500 really isn't that bad.

I believe if the rest of the d is healthy, Brad will deal Wideman. He's shown this with Glencross and I don't think Gg has much confidence in him!
