Big reason why Ottawa moved him. They didn't want to pay him the pine pony he is gonna get
- TPC

he is an asset on the PP, not only his shot but he wins virtually every faceoff

I would call him an asset overall. He can be that number 1 center we want.

Who is Gorton going to trade to keep Grabs for expansion draft, or does he take his chances with the hopes that Vegas takes Raanta?

If he was feeling extra bold and really smart, he'd trade Grabner after the season ends and before the expansion draft. Someone will overpay based on this season and, based on the past, he's likely to not repeat this year's performance again next season.

to me, Grabs and Holden are bait to get them not to take Raanta

the Rangers need Raanta more than the other two, IMO

Thats a big gamble, especially that NYR took a step back after losing Hags, so regardless if Grabs puts up same numbers next season, his SPEED is what NYR needs to keep.

Raanta is good, but remember, NYR had Talbot and Weeks too. Both were also good backups. Much easier to find backup than to replace Grabs speed, or to find another top 4 dman to replace Holdens' versatility and dependability.

Maybe Vegas will take Klein

The forwards on the PK are excellent.

Hayes, Miller, Stepan, NASH, Grabs. All Excellent

You forgot to mention Marty Biron who was a pretty good backup too & that other guy, the doofus who is now a studio analyst, him too.

Grabner will not be taken by the Knights, will they really take a 30 year old with a year left on his contract? They honestly don't have expectation of playoffs in year 1 so why waste that pick? Annoys the (frank) out of me that people entertain trading him at this point, let's try and win with him rather than without him, our PK and overall chances will take a considerable hit just like when Hags was dealt, why do that all over again?

It seems every single game on the PK they have at least one 2 on 1 or a breakaway. Amazing what a year does.

We have no use for the ever responsible Fast, who knew last season that Hayes and Miller would make a great PK pair?

Hayes showed signs in his rookie year of being extremely good defensively. Last year he just stunk. The kit-kats slowed him down. Never would have thought Miller, because it really hasn't been his game, but its a great pair. Even though AV switched it up last night with Grabs playing with Hayes and Miller with Nash.

No doubt he still carries value even if he's not scoring. That's why I said it would be a bold move for Gorton to make.

But if a playoff team offered you something like a late-mid to late 1st rounder for him in June...would you take it?

Don't we have unbelievable depth at goal in our farm system? If Vegas takes Raanta, I don't see it being all that bad a thing. He's been great, for certain, but I'd rather see him get the shot he deserves and promote Hellberg than lose Grabby, Holden or someone that plays a role that's harder to replace.

If the Rangers are cooking during the deadline, absolutely not. If they are average and showing no signs of competing in the playoffs, sure.
