It's really just a terrible trade from ottawas perspective. Wtf were they thinking?
- rangerdanger94

No idea, but it's y I think people are very off base when they say "no way would anyone do that." Bottom line is we have no idea, and most of the trades are trades that were never expected. Also most of them are very far off from what we would say is "fair." Zib+2nd for Brass. Gaborik for Dorsett/Brassard/Moore.(might be close but not expected) Forsberg for Erat. Hall for Larson. Etc etc etc

Has he.. I haven't been following him. Brass wasn't my favorite player but I can't deny I loved seeing him in the playoffs.

Brassard was a really good Ranger, one of those guys who qualifies for "once a Ranger, always a Ranger status"

and, I am sure if Ottawa gets into the dance, Brassard will be a monster like always

Give me a trade that falls into the "no way would anyone do that" category for you? Just curious what types of trade you think that people are crapping all over that you think is possible.

It was all about saving money. Zib is going to get a huge pay increase in the coming years. Brass is locked down to a reasonable contract.

RFA contract for Zib this summer. Wonder what we are looking at with that one.

He is close to a point per game player now. Playoffs could have a huge say in that. I am tempted to skip the whole RFA stuff and try and go a McDonagh type contract if we can

I like that, buys out a year or two of UFA. Would be funny because isn't that Brassard's exact contract?

I'd rather due the 2 keep him as an rfa and go from there. Rangers have done well with rfa status

True, but if he continues to blow up each year and gets better. It's gonna keep on getting more expensive that way. Why you got to weigh lock him in now or hope he is good but not to good to fast haha

Yeah, its a balancing act. I like what they did with Kreids. That was smart and reasonable. I'm always hesitant with the long term for an rfa

I see Otawa's point. They get a cost controlled player in Brassard who before being traded was putting up that 50-60 point range, which was more then Zib at the time. Also he is a proven playoff player and they don't have to worry about the RFA years.

But I love it for us cause I think Zib will end up being the better player and who gives a frank about money, its new york

A big thing for Ottawa was that Brassard is a local kid, I remember he trained there in the offseason when I watched his "Beginnings" special on MSG

I don't think the Rangers have the ability to do that now, and I don't think it would be smart for them to go that high. I don't mind them going above what a normal RFA bridge type deal to buy some extra year(s), but they can't go that high yet, even if it ultimately puts them in a Stepan type situation.

What really sucks is that she screamed "No" so loud they decided the inauguration didn't count. I cant believe that actually worked!

Thank god you don't run the purse strings, between what you would have given Kreids and now Zibby we would be broke,

This year he is.. Which is awesome, but also speaks to being smart with money. You don't just start making it rain like its your favorite stripper giving you a lap dance.
