Jamesy-Poo, what are your thoughts on upcoming UFA Michael Stone and could he help the Oilers as a trade deadline rental?
- Larsson_fan

He's the kind of crap player Chiarelli probably thinks is great. Maybe he'll send Puljurrarvi to the Coyotes in exchange?

I guess he has enough experience, maybe they just want to give him some confidence back?

Wouldn't a conditioning stint make more sense then?

I'm betting he'll get his confidence back playing with Tucson. Hopefully he's here for a couple weeks so I can see how he does on home ice. Perlini was down here for the 5 day break and looked like a completely different player. A lot more confidence and more puck command.

Like all even half-informed people, I am horrified. Also, embarrassed for America, scared for anyone who isn't straight or white, disgusted by the Republican party for enabling this, appalled by the consequences of the destruction of the education system, and afraid for the world my children will have to grow up in.

This truly is a terrible day for the USA and the World. Though, if there is a silver lining, it is the greatest thing to ever happen to comedy in the history of the world.

It'sstill hard to believe , could go from comedy to horror quickly. People really must have hated Hillary. You should be disgusted with the Democrats too for selecting Hillary I think almost anyone else would have beat hm.

Believe me, Democrats disgust me. In fact, nearly all these fat-cat politicians make me sick. I like Obama, and I'm forced to align with Democrats because their party hasn't been taken over by insane people with objectively stupid, short-sighted, crazy ideas.

In reality, Trump is just the end result of a problem that started when Fox News and AM Radio discovered that appealing to the worst impulses of the badly informed made them money that you can't even comprehend.

Telling morons what they want to hear is the shortest path to success in any business, presentation, or media.

Once politics was made inaccessible to anyone who wasn't independently wealthy, (and in my opinion, this, along with our education system is what we should be talking about) Trump was just an inevitability.

This lead to a system where a) complete jackasses like Ted Cruz, Sarah Palin, Donald Trump whoever were elected while backed by virtually every form of business any sensible person would not want making the rules (banks, oil and gas, guns, tobacco, phara) because they are there to distract the media from the guys in the background robbing everyone blind.

and b) Everyone is divided into two groups - left and right - and you're supposed to support everything your team does, which is ridiculous because personally, I find the same things about "Liberals" repulsive as everyone else does (i,e political correctness, no balls, neo-liberalism etc etc etc.).

Anyways, it's completely pointless railing on Trump and the uninformed but possibly well intentioned people who put him there. The System certainly deserved this huge middle finger, I'll give that . I also would have hated President Clinton, just as I have disliked virtually ever authority figure who's had power in my lifetime with the exception of Obama.

At first I thought we need to come together. Now I think we need to find ways to disrupt the AM radio/ Fox News/ Fake News stuff and demand more serious conversations about issues. I think we need to work harder at discrediting idiots, being more vigilant about fact checking and especially ceding no ground (out of politeness) to people who are objectively wrong.

One major problem we face is the post-modern idea that there is no right or wrong, true or false. As philosophy it's interesting, but in practice it gives you Donald Trump.

Just another in a long line of dumb moves by Tippett. I honestly do not understand how you expect an offensive guy to succeed while sticking him in roles that do not suit his skills. He barely played on the power play, and was saddled with 4th line crap for most of the season. He should have always been on a line with Domi and Hanzal, period. Tanner, maybe you can look up their possession numbers from last season as an example of this. (or let me know where i can find it being an analytics novice)

I saw EK post that there is interest in him via trade. No way in hell do I trade him unless we get back a 2C or top 4 RHD. The kid scored 20 plus goals last year, albiet with a relatively whacky shooting percentage. However, he is part of the future here and unless we get something good/great, he needs to stay. Trade Stone, Smith, Vrbata, re-sign Hanzal and go get another C and RHD. Simple enough right?

James,
I disagree with almost everything you say about hockey...but this is 100% the way I feel. No matter who won this last election, America lost either way. Enough of this my team your team B.S. (Republican/Democrat, Conservative/Liberal) it's time to think about what is truly best for the normal everyday hard working American citizen.

That will not happen, sadly. Term limits need to be set for Congress. 12 years seems a good number (2 for senate, 6 for representative). The lifetime politicians need to go the way of the dodo. It's sickening how much party-line voting and back-scratching there is on both sides. Congress represents themselves, not the people who elected them.
