I'm guilty of it too.

I mean, I wouldn't mind giving him a few more games to make aproper assessment, but since that isn't likely, all we have to go on is last night.

And he was super average last night. Maybe even slightly below

I'm fine owning that maybe I gave him too much credit, and my perspective was probably based on the team's treatment of him rather than him as a player. Even then, it is hard to say that after such a small sample size

when comparing to brett lebda you mean?

before this season, i said leafs should have the objective to get into playoffs.
i expected them to make the playoffs, and still do.
i think you said the same.

some on here said 'no chance', 'way too early' etc. etc.

it's somewhat incoherent to whine about the defense and loss of yesterday, after the magnificent string of games of last few weeks, in particular if at start of season these same people were predicting a bottom 5 position for the team..

- MaximusAurelius

Yes I thought, a little run for the playoffs would not be out the question.

They've had a great run...its one loss....more to come....lets beat the senaturds.

And get better D.

I guess we should put the parade planning on hold then?

- BorjeFan4Ever

I've already drawn up the parade, it's this year or bust

No we cant.....over 5000 potholes were just filled in toronto in the last two months......the roads are smooth.....perfect parade conditions

Are we getting back into the mafioso dealings of the road construction crews? Because that seems like a less volatile topic than discussing Leafs shortcomings

No he really wasnt.

wishful thinking

- Fakepartofme

He didn't make a mistake and made a play that led to the leafs first goal. Hunlak standing around watching as the rags scored. Hunlak chasing the Play that whole period. Completely run over. How is it wishful thinking?

oh ya...its one game....play him again if Rielly is out.
He hasnt played in an NHL game in a while and its not like the rest of the D were great last night.

Cause he did make mistakes and I believe it led to a goal or two.

But as I just said, it was one game....his first in a while.
Play him again on saturday.

did you read the Article Mirtle did - Is Jake Gardiner a better defenceman than Morgan Rielly?

Some good info

- senstroll

No, can't say as I did. I will assume that he forms an opinion based on stats, observations etc. to conclude one is better then the other.

I use the same process and have formed my own opinion. Babcock has used his own process and formed his own opinion. And as long as he is the guy who is paid to hand out the ice time and assignments, I guess his opinion is what counts.

What mistake that led to a goal of two? He was only on for one against and did t make a mistake on the play..... hunlak on for several and they did make mistakes that led to goals though.

Also corrado with a neutral zone play that led to leafs goal.... and hunlak running around a mess in their own zone.

But whatever

Over last two seasons:
Hedman (137games played) - 113 hits, 242 blocked shots, 295 shots - 85 points
Doughty (164 games played) - 277 hits, 249 blocked shots, 416 shots - 97 points
Lindholm (158 games played) - 127 hits, 192 blocked shots, 256 shots - 62 points
Rielly (163 games played) - 156 hits, 225 blocked shots, 315 shots - 65 points
Gardiner (158 games played) - 196 hits, 150 blocked shots, 222 shots - 55 points

Is there a reason that you're not including Lindholm's poopty numbers from THIS season and using Rielly and Gardiner's stats from teams that finished 30th and 27th respectively? Let's not be selective to try to prove a point.

Despite playing in a much better situation with a MUCH better supporting cast on a contending team over the past few seasons Lindholm's numbers are underwhelming and certainly do not warrant the inflated price tag.

$5.25M for a 16/17 pt. scoring pace? YIKES!

Edit: Even is you include the games Lindholm missed at the beginning of the season we're looking at 20pts this season.

I think the play that killed the game was Hunwick's delay of game penalty, (frank) we were all over them.

I always like to compare full seasons as opposed to half seasons.
As well lindholm joined anaheim very late in the season (due to late signing of contract) so missed out preparation time - I'm quite sure his numbers will be ok.
I didn't even include the plus/minus on the players - lindholm is a plus 70 in his career.

Lindholm is on same level of Rielly.
That's what Leafs need.

Do you gamble?

Would you be willing to make a 50 dollar bet that the Leafs don't trade Nylander?

Seriously, I need the $

I tried to get Mike to bet on whether or not Kadri would be traded. He didn't bite.
