Can we all agree that #1 option for an upgrade on Leafs defense should be Hampus Lindholm?

JVR + ?? ++ ??

for

Lindholm + ?

- MaximusAurelius

I kinda feel that Lindholm is overrated and has the potential to be a big disappointment.

A 30 point D who's not even on pace to crack 20 points this season, with 28 career PP points in 271 games and will probably have about 100 hits, shots and blocks. All these numbers are a huge MEH for a top pairing D.

Let's also remember that he's been playing with a much more experienced and talented D core and team.

Your team has serious flaws if they can't win every single game. Good teams never lose games.

Well the way the Rangers played their last few games, this was expected.

Man, I thought Carrick was just having a slump, but its been about 20 games now since he could be called anything above mediocre, and longer than that since he could be called "good"

Also, since I wasn't sure I'd get another chance, I paid a lot of attention to Corrado last night. Based on that one game alone, I could kind of see why he has trouble cracking the lineup. He was the milktoastiest of milktoast. I have no problem admitting I could have been way off-base in my assessment of him.

Let's grind this next few games out and try to salvage some points until Rielly is back. I don't think defensive upgrades are coming until the summer, and possibly after the expansion draft so things are more clear cut.

Leafs were due for a stinker. I'm OK with the loss.

It's being patient with this D corps that's the toughest pill for me to swallow

Yeah the D is not great.

However, I have this feeling like as long as the kids are still having fun, they will bounce back and not grip their sticks too tight.

Possible.
Or as he said already, babs doesnt think Corrado is a top 6 dman in the NHL.

After last...he may be right.

- Fakepartofme

It was his second game also. Did any1 see him play while he was with the Marlies?

The big question is would management sign a UFA D for more money than Reilly

Blaming the D when the Leafs forwards caused a lot of the goals.

Kadri softer than butter on the Hobbit and Nylander fixing his hair on the 1 goal.

Not sure what Z is doing on the PP...he see's Grabner heading up the middle and doesnt even try to cut off the pass.

Blaming the D? Tsk, tsk

I get that you have to defend everything contrarily to what anyone says, it's your schtick and thats fine - we begrudgingly accept it, even if it gets tiresome.

But the defense sucks and if you can't see that, there's no hope for you.

Gardiner has been their best defenceman by far since the Rielly injury, and probably even most of the year when Rielly was playing. Not sure why you hate him so much.

Also PK is improved a lot because of Andersen in net instead of Bernier, and the guys upfront like Hyman and Brown relentlessly pressuring the opposition.

- PlatosRepucklic

Let's see Babcock's resume: World Junior, Olympics, World Championship, World Cup, Stanley Cup gets him an 8 year, 50 million dollar contract. I tend to defer to his coaching decisions. He clearly doesn't see Gardiner in the same light as some do otherwise he would be used differently.

Personally, I don't hate Gardiner. In my opionion, he just doesn't fit the template of a good all round defenceman, which Reilly does. Gardiner is your offensive guy when you needs goals. I just cringe when I see him on the ice near the end of a close game.

Few giveaways last night, but the team was kind of crappy all around so its hard to really blame anyone in particular

Not just young teams. Every team.

The loss is fine, move on to Saturday.

What sucks is this defense, and the fact that we are likely stuck with it until summer at least. That was the case even when they were winning

If you don't like what your read...ignore instead of acting like a giant (frank)head.

Did you watch the game or look at any stats from the game...cause you bashing the same guys everyday is tiresome..especially when you're clueless.

Cheers.
