PLease point out who these idiots were in your next newsletter. Because I wanted Drouin in the worst way. And for Hagg or a 2nd? The only thing I can think of, is in that context why would Tampa do that? Maybe that was the source of the debate.

I was willing to offer Morin if needed. My thought was if we acquire Drouin he immediately becomes our top LW and scoring threat for 1st line.

After reviewing a list of to-be free agents I have come to the conclusion I would like to sign 1 of Justin Williams, Patrick Sharp, or Patrick Berglund this offseason. I think Berglund could help as 3rd line center and after all the talk of our core needing a shake up and our team lacking leadership, I think Williams or Sharp would be a great veteran winger with that leadership voice and presence. Especially after Streit's departure.

I see German Rubtsov made his QMJHL debut last night. 6 shots 2 assist and named third star of the game. Anyone happen to see the game or hear of any other reports on his game last night?

He's stated, several times, that he won't make any trades that don't help the team both now and in the future. Until he actually makes a trade, I don't believe he'll be moving anyone!

I see your point on the trade. I was going to offer VDV, but then I began to think I was overpaying for drioun. So I dropped the offer to haag and a 3rd.

Yeah I agree and all true, but as you said, Hexy would make a deal if it helps now and in the future and a deal acquiring Drouin fits both the now and future. I think at the end of the day I rather keep Morin, but I was for sure willing to sacrifice Morin for Drouin last year.

The thing is, there is no reason to move anyone of the young prospects now. Then, you deal in a position of weakness, not strength. If a move is made, it's going to be one that pushes us into the 'serious' contender category. There is not one realistic trade out there that will make us into a contender right now.

I suspect that part of the problem is that he's still trying to assess how good the prospects are going to be. He doesn't want to give up on a kid and then have him turn into a real star. Not willing to take that chance yet when we are not contenders.

Id take a flyer on him..heheehehe.. had too. No, seriously though I would. He could become a top 6 forward or just crap the bed. So the asking price would be key. If third gets it done sure. Maybe a second and mcdud contract half retained or something.

There has been a lot of talk that he offered Morin + for ekblad. I really don't know how true it is, but it seemed a lot more substantiated than you would expect from Hextall's camp. I don't think he's just looking to make a trade with the young guys, but if an opportunity to get a guy like Ekblad or Drouin were to come up, I am sure he would consider it

If that's his stance, then it appears as though the franchise is in "rebuild" mode and if they make the playoffs/stay competitive, it's just icing on the cake. Problem with that is, you don't get a franchise player (Crosby, Stamkos, Ovie, McJesus, et.al) by drafting in the mid part of the first round every year. With G, Jake, and Simmer all in their prime now, by the time Sanhiem, Morin, Hagg, etc. are full time with the big club, those 3 will be in serious decline.

I don't know how in good conscience he couldn't consider it...both guys are young and are stars in the league already. Either of them would make a huge difference on this team immediately and for the future. Morin, this year's first and maybe Laughton might get it done for Drouin...not sure that would be enough for Ekblad though. Florida would probably want Simmer to which my reply would be hell no!

Which is why it is more important that we keep that core (defensemen) together.

I think the Flyers have a great crop of young defensive prospects...it's the forwards I'm worried about. Some decent sounding offensive players, but no "generational talents" in that mix.

Trust me, I know where he's coming from with not wanting to give up on young players...Patrick Sharp? Unfortunately, to get someone that's going to impact the team now and in the future, via trade, they'll have to give up a potential asset in the process.

Ekblad is overpaid compared to other young dmen like Ristolainen and Lindholm. I wouldn't give up a ton for him.
