Its as simple as this. Chara has control of his destiny, and he wants to stay in Boston. He wont waive his NMC
- dothedougie

are we positive about that? If I'm Chara and management tells me a contender wants him for the stretch run, I may be willing to go over what his alternative is.

He will likely retire a Bruin. I dont see management asking him to waive it out of respect for what he has done to the club, and even if they did, I am pretty confident he would decline to waive the NMC.

I see your point, but there needs to be change at some point. Boston's problem is hanging on to 2011.

Lol well I agree there needs to be change. Seeing Sweeney and Neely's track record as executives, I am willing to bet they will make it worse before they make it better. Im sure chara will be here this year and next to play out his contract. Then probably resign with the bruins for less money and be a depth defender for one or two years after that.

They are still holding on tightly to 2011. Wouldn't surprise me if they make another terrible trade to try and 'win now'.

So you wouldn't be on board with a 2nd and a 4th for lee stempniak again?

Unfortunately I have a feeling this will happen. Getting the "it's unacceptable to be out of the playoffs, make it or your fired" ultimatum given by the Jacobs at the beginning of the season will probably force Sweeney to spend on some rentals rather than rebuild for the future.

My sources are telling me that Josh Bailey and a conditional 3rd round pick in 2020 are on the move for Duchene.

How does that help? I would rather let sweeney play draft roulette with the picks than throw them away for pretty much nothing.

Didn't want to trade hamonic because he's an emotional leader, yet he let Nielsen, Martin and Okposo walk. Should've traded hamonic for hall when you had the chance snow. Always 2 steps behind. Ledecky should've completely cleaned house by sending snow to the unemployment line with his bff capuano.

with all of this Carlo trade talk for Landeskog, let me ask, why is Colorado willing to trade/listen to offers for their 24 year old captain, but the Bruins won't trade Chara to a contender (highly doubt boston would be looking for a haul)?
- highstick87

chara's full trade clause and other teams not wanting him?

I get the no trade issue, but teams are always looking for veteran dmen at the deadline so I can't agree with the second half of your statement.
