Did York go in the Poti trade or the Bure trade? I remember not wanting him to get traded. Then the first trade happened and he was involved, and I thought he was safe, which last for about 10 minutes.

York was actually traded for Poti

As a leafs fan who doesnt watch the rangers much, could someone explain what the hell happened with girardi ? seemed like a couple years ago this guy was the second coming of seabrook, and now hes like what komisarek was for the leafs.

he's 32 going on 33, he's played more playoff games than any Ranger skater in the history of the franchise, and every one of those games at the end of the night he was bloody and bruised

it's taken its toll

Tons of games, injuries and getting older every year. He actually hasn't been that bad this year with limited minutes. The real question is what the (frank) happened to Klein.

they played Vancouver that night, TJ and I went, I was pissed because Rangers still were in it and Poti didn't make it in time for the game, Rangers lost

nobody liked that trade at all when it went down

The game has also evolved very rapidly over the last few seasons to be based on speed more than anything else, which just doesn't fit Girardi's style or play to his strengths.

I think he would have been fine in today's era when he was in his prime but yeah, today's NHL is a real tough go with him a shell of the guy he once was

Please, he used to lockdown Ovechkin. I don't mind the current Girardi criticism, because it is for the most part true, but I hate the revisionist history.

WORD

if Girardi was always as bad as he is now, how could they have possibly won all those playoff series

It makes me sick to be honest. The guy was a warrior for years, playing huge playoff minutes against Ovechkin, Malkin, Crosby, etc. You can think he stinks now, but at least give him his due.

that's this fanbase unfortunately

maybe it's the reason we have only won one cup since 1940, it doesn't deserve more

I thought that was because Sam Rosen said that '94 would "last a lifetime"

I think part of it is, other than most Ranger fans, most people don't realize how many games he has played. He wasn't talked about, kind of flew under the radar for a while. Once he started getting noticed people started paying attention, and it seems to them he has went down hill fast.

I credit the TANDEM of G and Staal.
It seemed like whenever they were on the ice together (Ovi and Staal) they would make a Bee line for each other as fast as they could. They loved trying to knock the snot out of each other. I'd love to hear both their takes on it at some point.
