Plus minus is a terrible stats and means nothing.
For instance, he could have produced more shots than he allowed, but his goalie let in three bad ones. - Tanner, of course
Why is it that whenever we laugh at an individual performance vs. an advanced stat, Advanced Statters point out that it's all about sample size, and things even out, yet +/- is crap, because in theory that one game a goalie may have had a bad game? |

Sorry - we need to GMO the best hockey player possible. You'll be paired with Wickenheiser, not Campbell. - 1979AD
In that case it would be Poulin... |

yeah, people generally don't do that.
But if it makes you feel any better im always the arsehole in my family.. Usually starts when im asked if "God" is in my life. To which i reply, you mean the flying spaghetti monster? - Arctic_AARDVARK
ha-ha... you guys have it easy these days by comparison... I was and remain that guy in our extended family... the political outside, the religious outsider. Believe me when I tell you this was much more difficult 25 years ago.
I just can't tolerate the religious conversation. I have no problem when someone has different beliefs... but I have problem when they try to convince me "I just don't understand" what I'm missing not having God in my life.
How does this tie back to hockey you ask? I now and have used the HNIC Saturday night game as an equivalence for Sunday morning mass - except with one primary difference. The outcome on Saturday night isn't known ahead of time.
This equivalence pisses the zealots off to no end. Works every time. |

I don't envy you. I married into an ultra Catholic family, but they respect my (lack of) faith, at least to the point of not trying to change me. The worst we've got is a comment about our kids growing up "lost" or "searching for their identity" because we choose not to indoctrinate them into any religion, but let them figure it out for themselves.

WTF is wrong with people?
Nerissa Camacho, 34, waited for two hours and 20 minutes. She said she planned ahead and worked overtime the previous day so she could leave work early today to get in line. - 1979AD
The people photographed look like they've never had a day of fun in their lives. Let them have their lame jollies. |

OMG, Tony, I thought the same thing when I read the article this morning.
Who the poop lines up for over two hours for a fast food hamburger?
I've never had Shake Shack, but I have had In-n-Out. It tasted like Wendy's. Meh. |

I wouldn't be surprised if at least some of them were paid to create the publicity.... but that doesn't excuse the ones who actually spent hours doing nothing so they could buy a hamburger. |

What I don't understand is why they do this, and then never bother opening up a permanent store.
I can't imagine it would be terribly profitable to do all of this for 3 hours.
On a related note, I happened to be sneaking up McCaul Street just before Christmas - there's a Krispy Kreme behind the hospitals. I didn't know there still were those purveyors of death in Toronto.
And yeah, now I want to go get one. |

that's what we've done with ours... they can make their own choices.
family doesn't mess me much anymore... they don't enjoy ending up in tears I guess.... although there's occasionally some newcomer to the group who attempts "engage"... I take personal pride in not EVER backing away from the conversation.
but I do like the "Spaghetti Monster" thingy mentioned above... I like that line. |

After while tho you can't help but roll your eyes and appear condescending when they always refer back to "it's in the bible".. I like turning it around on them and try to get them to admit their mental health issues.. like, does god talk to you? Without god would you be depressed? Do you believe in everything in the bible? if so are you okay with owning a slave and beating it? or human sacrifice? |

Next time you have a dust-up, ask them to explain the curious case of Elisha the Prophet in Two Kings.
In a nutshell, Elisha is walking up to a town. 42 boys come out and start teasing him for being bald. So what does Elisha do? He asks God to teach the boys a lesson.
And God does. Oh boy, does he ever.
God sends out two she-bears who kill all the kids. Each and every one of them. For calling Elisha "baldy."
Ask them if they think their God over-reacted on that one. |

Yeah, In-n-out is a decent burger that happens to be quite cheap. It's better than McRichards, but then again you might as well just skip the platitudes with McRichards and just lick the floor and wait for the sickness to arrive... |
