A good deal of my apprehension to trading the pick centers around one player. A guy I've been advocating heavily for has risen up the draft charts from mid-50s early season to right around where our 1st rounder will likely be. My pick of the draft, Henri Jokiharju.

He's a two-way D whose offensive game has taken big steps over the last year and brings fantastic skating and strong breakout ability (leans pass but regularly skates it out, too). From what I understand, he's spent a good deal of time alongside Caleb Jones in the Dub and played with Puljujarvi and Rasanen at last year's World U18 tourney.

He's 6'0, 170lbs last time he was officially weighed so he has a manageable frame with his chippy attitude. Both CS and ISS have him in that mid 20s range.

Everything points upwards with him: June birthday (young side of his draft class), has consistently trended upwards, has experienced his success among fellow Oiler prospects and is producing strong offensive numbers as a draft year Dman.

Shattenkirk is great I say you offer Sekeras keeping half his salary for a couple years. Yes I am dreaming. The real price is Larsson + or Nurse and Davidson. Or Pulj. This is a top pairing defender. A real one. We traded Hall and got Larsson and Hall war the offense since he was drafted. He is going to cost and he is going to be worth it. What the Oilers need next is Sekeras to go. Great guy. Not a top liner and that 5.5 with a NMC is tying hands. They will need to keep salary. Let's be honest. He is not worth 5.5 in any reality. Then move Klef up and look at someone like Brodin. Or a rental as there are good defenders ready this off season.
