Looks like backlund is a center to me

Thanks for correcting me

- Redmile247

This happened twice to me this morning. Nuc4u did the same thing. Read a post wrong and then decided to correct me and say I'm mistaken. Strange morning around here.

You know that there are several scouting agencies/sites and almost all of them have him top 5 OA or better?

I saw the update you are talking about...

- boonerbuck

I posted the link to central scouting yesterday...yes, I am referencing one agency. We don't need an undersized Swedish defensemen. OJ and Stetcher can run our PP in the future.

There's someone who's reached terminal velocity as he falls out of the top 10.

Is he though?
The only thing Virtanen has going for him is the benefit of age and the assumption that he will be more productive then Gaunce in the NHL and/or AHL at the same age.

Last year, Virtanen had the benefit of playing upwards of 15 minutes a night a good amount of the time shadowed with the likes of the Twins or Sven and Bo.

Gaunce is getting 8 mins playing with Skill, Chapoo, Megna etc.

My original point, which seemingly degenerated into a pissing match between Virt and Gaunce, was to demonstrate that first round selections (just like any pick in particular) is basically a matter of luck, regardless of if you pick 26th or 6th overall.

I find it odd that many poster can already call Gaunce a bust when, apart from a difference of 9 nhl points, has actually tracked the same if not better then Virtanen in both junior and the AHL.

Point 1) absolutely

Point 2) I am not calling Gaunce a bust. He is an adequate bottom 6 forward. I just don't like him because he refuses to use his size.

Undersized?

6 foot 200 pounds at 17 years old.

Stetcher is smaller.

I understand the risk angle but it sounds like you haven't been looking very hard into him. He's not small and doesnt play OJ's kind of game at all. He plays more like Karlson's style. Liljegren mobilty/agility is amazing. Stetcher is in his 20's and doesnt exactly impress me on the PP. He should get credit for stepping in and being consistently decent but he's not very dynamic. He's also undersized and I wonder how much abuse he can take.

Liljegren numbers in a mens league are not great... he had good numbers last season in Super Elite U20 when he was healthy. There's no way I take Hague over him. There is a handful in that class like that and some of them are rising and passing Hague(who I like in the mid 10).

Does where he ends up getting picked signify how he will pan out?

You can never have too many high end defensive prospects either.

Cable is pretty much free once you factor in internet and home telephone. Yes, I still have a home phone because I just don't want to give my cell # to everyone.

You must be talking about Granlund while we are talking about Backlund.

Why don't we mix in a forward prospect?

I honestly think we are climbing out a dark hole of having no prospects, but I don't think anyone should be satisfied with our current cupboard of prospects (apart from maybe goalie). Demko was a great pick, Garteig will hopefully round out his game and make the AHL after Bachman's contract is done. It wouldn't hurt if Benning grabbed another goalie (who wasn't an overager). I think we seriously lack forward and defensive depth though as far as prospects go.

Hutton's and Virt's development should be a warning to anyone who thinks we are in good shape. This past summer people were penciling JV into top 6 scoring role and speaking about Hutton as a top pairing D.
