I've posted my info on this before. The Isle will try to pull off big deals selling future and draft picks now to make JT sign. They need his star cache and rebuilding again is not wanted by ownership or fans.

If Isle don't or can't they have no choice but to trade him this summer. He's not making it to UFA. They know only off season trade is doable.

So, Canucks can either shed vets to get Isle prospects or picks. Otherwise if Isle trade him it will have to be for either star players or developed prospects or rising stars. Your Bo type. So don't see any scenario where JT gets to the Canucks.

1 year from now is when scenarios will make more sense.
For us that means have we moved from a bubble wannabe to something enticing.
Thats a huge stretch of the imagination but lets wait & see.
If JT wants out it won't be for a rebuilding team no doubt.
A team like Philly or St Louis could be a good fit.

Brent Burns with his 19th goal tonight, guy has 46 points in 45 games as a defenceman, he's crazy good, Eastern media has no idea.
- LeftCoaster

Starting to hear his name brought up in hart trophy consideration

Not bad for a guy who didn't know what position he was going to be when drafted

I compared your two goalies trade values

- Redmile247

So you can use the age thing when it suits your needs . Got it

Flames are one knee on knee away from being a terrible team so i don't buy your lets see how they look in two years.

You spent all summer telling me how good you guys would be this year and how bad we would be. How is that working out?

Its old news after they slept.

3 of significance only come to mind...
Hall for Larsson
PK for Weber
EG for McCann/2nd

1st was offense star for needed D out of necessity. Heavy price.
2nd was star for star & seemingly about a personalty conflict.
3rd says what the market for top 4D costs & prolly why it happens infrequently

- Nighthawk

You didn't say "significant" trades, you said trades of any kind has dried up, which isn't true. There were a bunch of trades this summer.

Brassard for Zibanejad
Frederick Andersen to the Leafs
Eller to Washington
Shaw to Montreal
Yandle to Florida

There were a bunch of trades this summer. Which is normal.

Flames were 6-3-1 without Johnny ...and this was in the middle of 6 games in 9 nights ...seems like you are wrong there...

As of right now we are in a playoff spot and you are not drafting top 3 ...so it's going alright actually

True
1) a lateral trade
2) jury is out on if he can be a #1 all season...big contract for what?'
3) didn't lose sleep over Eller being shopped for a long time
4) another Hawk trade out of cap necessity
5) overpament for a UFA let EG be expendable. Doesn't look like it helped.

Just my $.02

you got that right.

when henrik gets his 1000th (which is major hockey news- rare for any player to get 1000) it'll be way down the list and big story will be what mathews had for lunch followed by the list again of greatest leafs ever, none of which I believe have 1000 points

Their numbers are down, but don't kid yourself, they're still 2nd and 3rd in scoring for the Canucks this year. They eat up too many minutes but they just don't have anyone that they can be replaced with.

Life after the twins.

I imagine our PP will drop drop 13.2 to 13.1 . Instead of scoring 1 out of 23 tries it may go down to 1 of 24.

Our shots per game may jump up from one to maybe four per night now from their replacements.

Same with hits ,I can see the replacements getting a few more

I see a decline in holding penalties.

The one thing I do see taking a beating is Megna's production. I can see him dropping from 6 points next year to maybe 2

My point is JT will be signed one way or another this summer not next. It's either the Isles cause they made moves to make team competitive now. Or the team they trade him too casie they couldn't pull it off. We'll know by July.

What Canucks might want to do is try to pry some picks/prospects from Isles with their assets.

I don't see an ultimatum type deadline date.
I do think he will play it by ear til he has to decide.
He holds all cards.t
As it now stands i see no reason he would resign if had to choose now.

So only trade Bo or Tree if the return is Crosby or McDavid.
