I haven't followed the Pens much this year....but it seems DP has been passed over by just about everyone including a pylon...yet some on this board thought he was the next Bobby Orr.

Nothing wrong about giving a chance to another guy from the AHL.

I thought Prow and Percy would get a call up before Gaunce though.

Bury Oleksy in the minors already.

- Barnaby36

Just curious what led you to believe that Prow or Percy would have been called up before Gaunce? Gaunce has more experience than either Prow or Percy, he's played more this season than Prow or Percy and he's outperformed both Prow and Percy at WBS. The only player I feel would have made more sense to call up would have been Erixon or possibly Pouliot again.

Too bad Shero didn't pass him over.

or maybe they want dp to actually play and not pass him between teams like a rag doll all the time?
- martox

That's kind of how I feel as well, let him just marinate in the A for awhile, play big minutes and hopefully get his juju back.

With Pitt scouting 2 Tampa games, how about a deal centered around Pouliot and Namestnikov ?

That contract.

I there was an official definition of "a salary cap nightmare" it would be Mr. Baby Stuff playing at his current level. Yikes.

Tampa already has a guy similar to DP that they don't use.

Has Carey Price been that difficult for the Pens to solve more recently? I think not but maybe someone else can enlighten me.

As far as DP goes he has been inconsistent at best. It's like he is stuck in second gear when overdrive is required for the style we play.

Based on pedigree and position in the draft
Probably you've watched them a lot more than I did so I believe in you.

Gaunce played for Vancouver right?

Looking at their cap situation, they look like the next team that Ron Francis is going to offer his plentiful cap space to.

He could get quite the haul if he takes Callahan off their hands.

Callahan is a good player but his contract is probably a couple million dollars too much.

Oof. I mean, the Canes have space but I dunno if they have Ryan Callahan level space.
Gotta sign Teravainen and McGinn at the end of this year, then Lindholm, Slavin, Pesce and Hanifin next year.

Shero didn't have to see into the future. All he had to see was that Forsberg was available, that pretty much every outlet had Forsberg as BPA, that we had a huge organizational need at forward, and pick Forsberg. It was borderline a bigger no brainer than picking Saad over Morrow.

Shero wasn't perfect and he did a lot of dumb things, but passing on Forsberg and Saad will forever be two of his biggest blunders.

Forsberg I'll give you but Saad wasn't considered a slam dunk. He was passed on by every team....three times by Chicago
