Not so sure about that. I doubt anyone from the top 5 is aching to repick quite yet. Everyone picked above him is probably going to be a stud. - Hunkulese
I think Dubois, Puljujarvi, and juolevi would be picked behind him if it was done again today. I mean, no way to know but Tkachuk is ahead of them in my eyes. The Flames are very fortunate to get him |

Yeah I completely agree. Everyone knocked his skating, but it's a complete non-factor. |

Mason Raymond can skate very well ....sometimes it's not as important as most think |

Have you actually watched Laine or Matthews play? I'd love to hear you try and break down how Tkachuk is a more rounded player than those two. Because he takes a lot of penalties?
Yes, he's having a great rookie year for the Flames, but he's at least a tier below Mathews and Laine who are both complete hockey płayers. - Hunkulese
You squeeze out diamonds don't you? My friend, I KNOW.
Our blogs lack fire so I thought I'd stir the pot. My next post was going to be how Matthews will exceed McDavid once the Leafs are relevant but that's for another day... |

Maroon would have been perfect
I never really see Brouwer engage much physically, its pretty annoying - Squilliam-
Keep in mind he is just coming back from hand surgery & I think doctors have told him to try not getting into punching contests. Pretty sure he has a specialty glove on that hand. I'd cut him some slack.

I disagreed! Liane is imo one dementinal. He thinks about only scoring and himself. Good scorer but I think that is all. Matthews on the other hand is a 100% complete player and is going to be a huge star he is more complete then tkachuk |

Seen lots of good defensive plays from Laine. Not sure that is a fair evaluation. |

Saw a rumour (maybe more of a proposal?) floating around on another site that said the Flames should go after Shattenkirk. At first I thought it sounded stupid, but after I read what they thought the cost would be it started to make a lot of sense.
I think they said that we should trade Wideman @ 50% + 2nd rounder for Shattenkirk (I think we'd have to give up a 1st, even with Wideman at 50%).
The Blues might go for it because they are set on the Right side with Pietrangelo and Parayko. This gives them a solid bottom pairing guy, a 1st rounder (don't think 2nd would cut it) and a bunch of cap space to go after another rental (plus they can just walk away from Wideman at the end of the year).
Since Shattenkirk is UFA at the end of the year we don't have to worry about protecting him for the entry draft. Basically we would trade the 1st for half a year of Shattenkirk (giving us arguably the best top 4 in the league) and exclusive negotiating rights until July 1st (doubt he signs with Vegas at this point in his career). It's a steep price, but if we could manage to convince him to stay our blueline could be pretty (frank)in stacked for the foreseeable future.
What do you guys think? |

We are no where near the point where we can give up a first for a rental.

Need someone with a right shot. As good as he is another left shooting forward isn't needed. Especially since it would leave the blue line severely lacking. Easier aid than done though. |

If it was someone like him that might stick around past this year then I might be interested ...but he isn't signing in cgy
I have to think the blues can get a better deal for shattenkirk too

I think Price is to the Canadians like Kipper was to the Flames. The only difference is Price will ask to leave. |
