I think the Sabres protect Carrier and do not protect Foligno and they take Foligno if he's not traded before then. His father is a scout for them as well.

Just read Lehner's piece by Vogl of the Buffalo news. As hard as I have been on the guy he does seem like an overall good dude. If he's willing to take 3mill maximum foe 3 years I'd bring him back to compete with Ullmark and Petersen unless Murray can find a trade partner for him in which case see ya!

Why go 8 & 1 when you don't go over 2 defensemen anyways? You're protecting 6/2 and losing out on protecting 2 other players for no reason.

You're still tossing away the ability to protect another forward by going with the 8 skaters option. Not saying you're missing out on any vital people, but it can also help narrow down who Vegas could pick from.

For d-men the 2 are obvious, leaving Fedum, Falk or Austin as the 3rd option (just a "why not" use).

Fedun and Falk are UFA's and wont be protected in no realm of possibility would Austin be protected by Murray over Bad gosian so I wouldn't even consider it. I get it. You're losing someone. Likely one of Carrier or Ennis but maybe Murray trades one of them too. I'd rather lose Carrier with the hope Vegas takes Bogosian or Gorges

But if you lose Carrier they can't take Bogosain / Gorges. One player per team
