Honestly, I think it is totally normal for a rookie defensemen playing his first full season in the NHL to have some bad stretches. You just have to live with it, but it's also the reason why you don't want to insert too many young defensemen at one time.

I don't think anybody is pretending that, Tom. But every mistake is ending up in the back of the net, and that just can't happen. The Rangers salary structure is built on having an elite goaltender that can erase mistakes. But, right now, they are getting $1 million goaltending (if that), at an $8.5 million price tag. That's just not sustainable.

I just don't get the fire this team gets when they are playing in front of Antti, or Hellberg... would it be so horrible to see how Hellberg does for a game or two. Similar to Penguins and Murray. Idk I just see the play of the team as soon as Hank gets pulled change dramatically.

Tom, so if a goaltender had to face six high quality scoring chances in a game, you think that would be bad? If we are being honest, they played very well in the third period. But, if we are also being honest, the Stars sat back trying to protect a 4 goal lead, and only started trying to press again when the Rangers cut the margin to one.

They played well in the 3rd period. But if you Look at the Rangers 3rd period vs the Stars first period. Hellberg kept them in that game while he was in net because he robbed Seguin and Sharp. How many people did Niemi rob in the first period. Even when the Rangers play well, they are still exposed defensively. It's a huge issue. Now the difference is Hellberg made the save, Lundqvist probably doesn't. All of it is just a mess.
