Well I thought Kreider had a decent game

Anyone noticing Vesey much lately? He seems to have hit a bit of a rookie wall, IMO. Maybe I am wrong, just haven't noticed him much.

He only played 6 minutes last night.

With the forward depth on this team it is going to take a trade to get him back into the top 9.

I noticed him looking awful, but I think he only played 6 minutes

definitely has hit a wall

but, the forwards are not the problem right now, so it's kind of being ignored

Pete they looked very good last night

Agree on Mcdonagh thought he looked like shyt as well

The D looks very passive. They back into the zone allowing the other team entry and then they all follow the puck carrier or slide across the ice like snow angels. Other than that they just stand there waiting for something to happen. They used to keep opponents to the outside but now they are getting past and overrun. Need to attack more.

The give away on the 4th goal was the back breaker, Holden covering Roussel was just the icing on that sequence

I don't want to pile on McDonaugh but what I wouldn't give for a captain like Benn. Although Benn can be a little punk when his player was being challenged he stepped right in and defended his guy. He's vocal, he's tough. I never liked quiet, passive captains like McD and Leetch when he wore the C.

Still disgusted by the defense, Hank and overall the entire team for their lack of a spine throughout the game, Jamie Benn really had a free night at the Garden, I don't remember a player chirping so much without the any pushback, at no point did any Ranger say that's enough
- KreiderBomb

This is the thing I find most concerning. It is a lack of leadership on this team. I know not everyone is a Messier, but can you just imagine for one second Jamie Benn yapping like that to a Messier led team? The next shift he'd be picking his teeth off the garden ice.
Teams have free reign to run guys over and take cheap shots and there isn't one guy to a man that will do anything about it. Klein will step up, so will Miller and Kreider but there is such a lack of toughness on this team that there is no deterrent. Chris Neil had a field day when they played Ottawa, Andrew Shaw, Cody frickin Eakin.. The Flyers are licking their chops for January 25th.

Puck possession isn't at all valued, the d flips out every puck, that's not a breakout that's a turnover, the forwards have no sort of forecheck, everything is derived off the rush with this team, one dimensional hockey, AV will lose his job if this is how we coast the rest of the season, Buchnevich is clearly the best at protecting the puck and cycling, maybe Zucc and Miller are comparable but everyone else treats the puck like it's the (frank)ing HIV, Step would be so much better if his muscles weren't pure fat, he gets pushed off so easily

I think Stepan is starting to take a more vocal leadership role, and perhaps he needs to do more of that. I don't think every Captain needs to be overly vocal, but I do think a team needs someone to peel the pain of the walls when the team's effort isn't what it should be. And, I think Stepan has the credibility to do that.

Nope they just sit on the bench waiting for another 21 Pilots song to get played, we need an Avery or Carcillo type ass hole in that locker room, maybe Burrows is that ass hole

His whole time with the Isles has been one long conditioning stint..

Honestly, I think it is totally normal for a rookie defensemen playing his first full season in the NHL to have some bad stretches. You just have to live with it, but it's also the reason why you don't want to insert too many young defensemen at one time.

The goalie stinks because the defensive structure stinks. And vice versa.

listen, they are just throwing pucks at Lundqvist right now and they are going in, the defense is brutal but I mean, Lundqvist is in a terrible place right now

Completely agree. Lundqvist stinks, but let's not pretend the Rangers are playing decent in front of him either.
