Absolutely. Fats are a good, ready source of calories for energy (in reasonable quantities); sugars are not only the source of energy, but also have the ability to cause insulin spikes, which in turn tell your bodies to not store fat (as it needs to use that sugar first to bring blood sugar down).

What I'm saying, as counter as it seems, is that sugar is much more liable for obesity than fat, because high blood sugar will cause your body to store all fat ingested rather than use it as the rich energy source that it is..

you're right, but i dont think Americans are afraid of socialism, they're afraid of mexicans or outsiders.. Middle America would have voted trump no matter what, but swing states turned on Hillary, and that where he could have made up the difference..
- Arctic_AARDVARK

for a vast majority of Americans, and especially for the flyover Murkans... anything that sounds like, looks like, smells like or acts ANYTHING LIKE a socialist (whatever that is) or a commie (what ever that is) is BAD.

anti-Murikan.

they don't really know anything about history that isn't presented to them in a movie.... they have no real idea what Socialism, what Communism is what an Oligarchy is forget it.

they don't understand why buying 12$ blue jeans sold by Walmart is genuinely bad for the economy and why... and they don't care to know.

lower taxes
lower fuel costs
and florida orange juice
and
with Epcot you don't need to travel to see the rest of the world.

Drink two beers now and two before bed, call me in the morning.
- LeafMan

Although I haven't had a bowel movement in about 20 hours, my previous 36 hours saw me having multiple trips to the bathroom to spray-paint the bowl with some #7s on the Bristol Stool Scale.

So while I appreciate your advice, four beers is probably not the best idea for ol' Atomic Wedgie today.

when they start making plants resistant to Roundup and other pesticides, then its a different story. that's not something that would have or even could have been done naturally.

I honestly think that the biggest problem today (although there is a multitude of problems) is simply the portion sizes are too big.

I don't have the stat handy, but there's an explosion in the amount of meals that families eat in restaurants or take-out today vs. a generation ago.

And (once again, I don't have the stats handy) the portion sizes in restaurants today are frighteningly larger than they were a generation ago.

Put 'em together, and you have obese nation.

There's a great British show you can watch on Youtube called Secret Eaters - they get overweight or obese people who can't figure out why they are fat - and they follow them around for a week. The subjects have no idea that they were eating 2 or 3 times the calories they thought they were consuming.

- Atomic Wedgie

Yes, I have heard that before. I think it is well known that a lot of overweight people are wholly unaware of what they actually eat. It isn't that they are stupid, or that they don't know what is good or bad food. Hell, a lot of them are serious calorie counters.

They just "count wrong". It is like their mind plays tricks on them.

OR... they forget to count drinks. I have also done that; legitimately forgot.

As nauseating a person as Trump is, the behavior of the entitled left, particularly "celebrities" has been many times worse.

Instead of reflecting on why this happened, and looking for how to effect change, they basically accuse half the country of being stupid, racist, misogynist and any other insult they can think of throwing out there.

According to these cry-babies, only they and others who share their views should be able to vote. It is nauseating.

I don't know if it's many times worse. Remember Mitt Romney accused half the country of being welfare leeches. It's a country split right down the middle, each accusing the other of being either Nazis or Stalin. Moving beyond Red Team vs. Blue Team is the solution but seems far off. We all love being part of our little team and demonizing the other guys.

The left has the media, and "celebrity"... which is a much louder, and more noxious voice.

It's kind of like the people who realize they're pregnant when their "poop" starts crying at them from the toilet bowl.

Fox News isn't exactly handing out leaflets on street corners, they're pretty big. Rush Limbaugh, Coulter, etc, they're pretty loud. Both sides have a voice. I'd like to see more people speaking out for being independent rather than Red or Blue Team, but that's not the way it is currently.

You don't have a clue about the high school curriculum in these places. Pretending that you do, makes you look like an idiot.

Aleppo is in Syria. Syria is not run by fundamentalist zealots, and before a few years ago was in relative peace. They may very well teach the scientific method in their school system - I'm not sure. Islamic countries led the world in math and sciences between the fall of Rome and the Enlightenment and were also governed by Sharia Law.

- 1979AD

no you look like an idiot for thinking that a war zone has a functioning school system.

So if you weren't educated in the western world you are lacking ration thought?

You realize we are the most unhealty people right? Also our entire foundation of knowledge exists because of middle eastern and asian societies cleared the path...

- Arctic_AARDVARK

wrong. i said equivalent to western education. didn't say non-westerners don't get an education at all.

japanese, koreans, and others get a perfectly fine education. people living in war zones or in poverty stricken areas, not so much.

our entire foundation of knowledge doesn't exist because of middle east or asian society. that's total bs.

whatever science or math golden age in islamic society that 1979 wrote about was built on Greek knowledge base, and there were plenty of non-muslims in that society building up knowledge in math and science. attributing our foundation of knowledge to the middle east is silly.
