I'll take these guys running the Isles any day of the week. Patty L is not part of this crew so they have a shot at getting along. I love Patty and do not mean to take a shot at him but he did not make it work with the Isles and Sabres.

100% agreed........prob a great guy, but I want someone with a mean streak. I dont think this organization needs more "friends". Its not called show friends, its show business...

Centers and goalies.

I will give Snow a little credit though. I've said it before. When he took over, there were no cupboards. He has at the very least put some talent back in the pipeline.

- Isleshockeyman

I dont even give him credit for that.......10 years of drafting, half of which were top first rounders, and you're gonna come up with something. Heck, if we threw darts at a board to pick stocks.......some will perform.

I give Snow credit for one thing and one think only......that was bringing in Boychuk and Leddy. Not a great resume otherwise.

For a team literally just finishing out the season, Greiss is just fine as the starter.

Have you watched him play these last few years under a lousy coach and system? Did you see him winning that Florida series when the Isles could barely get out of their own zone?

The absolute irony that Snow took over and his first trade was to get rid of the three first rounders that Milbury had, to land Ryan Smyth. Having Smyth walk for nothing, literally set the stage for the next ten years of Garth Snow. A sign of things to come......

Now a new GM will come in, and ultimately trade Snows first rounders to build a team that they believe will succeed. Only, I bet that return doesnt turn around and walk for less money. The sheer irony....

Not gonna lie........a part of me liked when Roy gave his son the Miyagi look (to Daniel Larusso before the crane kick), to skate down and fight the other goalie. The only problem is that act has a shelf life. But for now, Torts is up for the Jack Adams, so i guess it works......

I dont know how to paste video memes (or any memes for that matter), otherwise i'd post the miyagi look.

Greiss has shown he can play in NY and play well under not the best conditions. Why look to create another potential problem when Greiss has shown he can be part of the solution?

It means he's been the much better option this disaster of a season. He also had a good playoff run. Halak has let in some soft goals late in games. It shouldn't be a shock that people like Greiss more.

Last year he was a solid backup until became starter bc Halak went down and did stumble down the stretch bc of possibly playing to much bc he hasnt in his career. thankfully he continued to play well in PO's.

Yea I'd sign him for 3-4 more years.....

edit: Andrew Hammond played lights out for OTT 1 yr
Darling helped CHI once too when Crow went down
Are they starters now?

Relevant 30 Thoughts info from Elliotte Friedman:

30 THOUGHTS

1. It sounds like the Islanders asked Florida for permission to talk to Gerard Gallant about three weeks ago. There are two possible conclusions. First, Gallant would already be the coach if he wanted the job. Or, second, it’s possible the Islanders were testing the waters; gauging Gallant’s interest before changing coaches.

Whatever the case, the ex-Panther has options. There’s the Islanders, Las Vegas and whatever other opportunities pop up. By joining the Islanders now Gallant would gain a new contract and likely a raise from what he was earning in Florida. But, if Garth Snow is not the long-term GM, is he going to risk the potential of another philosophical divide with a new front office? This doesn’t seem a likely fit. Now, if Dale Tallon ends up there, too, that changes things.

2. You can’t fault them for pursuing Gallant. With that try, Islanders have made it clear they will consider candidates who are available. If Boston fires Claude Julien, you can bet they will be all over it. This year’s coaching carousel is different than normal, with Las Vegas added to the mix. Unless New York wants to zero in on someone like Luke Richardson, who just won the Spengler Cup with Team Canada, the most likely scenario appears to be Doug Weight finishing the season as coach. Other organizations are unlikely to release candidates during the year, unless they are fired. A couple of sources wondered if they would consider giving their AHL head coach, Brent Thompson, a bit of a run to see what he could do.

3. Buffalo’s Kyle Okposo reached out to Jack Capuano before the Sabres played in Toronto on Tuesday night. He was disappointed. “Tell you what,” Okposo said. “No one quit on Jack. We liked playing for him.”

4. Last weekend, another NHL executive indicated he thought Snow was getting closer to moving Ryan Strome. My guess is that changes. It makes sense to see if Strome (and others) benefit from a different voice. The Travis Hamonic/Nick Leddy pairing has had a strange year, too. Those guys are good players.

Wrong KO. They sure looked like they quit during that last game against Tampa and KO was on that team.

KO should focus on Buffalo and forget Cappy. If he loves Cappy so much, he and his buddy Frans should have done better against Tampa.
