well.... Willie likes to believe this a 4 line team, or that we are build up to one, but our bottom 6 literally has no production, our defense doesnt produce much either. So I would disagree, 4th line becomes important offensively because we play them almost 15 minutes so they need to pull their weight. Just my thoughts on that though
- Crazybagoham

That's the point I'm trying to make, they're a great line if they only play 8 mins a night behind a solid top 3 lines. Unfortunately we don't have a solid top 9 yet but it will come in time.

It goes back to what you want out of 4th line.
It sounds like you (like WD) prefer a defensively responsible 4th line that doesn't make a lot of mistakes, doesn't get out position and doesn't take a lot of chances offensively.
That's cool.

I don't expect a lot of goals from a 4th line, but my preference is a line that has speed on the forecheck, pressures the other team to make turn overs, gets the odd chance, takes it to the net hard and is willing to scrap. But that's just me.

- dbot

I think they do a lot of what you just said. Maybe not as often as we'd like, but Skille in particular likes to play hard in the offensive zone when he can. I'm just saying on a team with elite forwards in the top 9, this 4th line looks pretty good.

I'd say he fights about as much as Guddy or Sbisa, who have fought two times each this year. I was pointing out he really doesn't drop them often. He's way overpaid for what he brings, I hope by some miracle Vegas claims him. Other than Burrows, he's the most overpaid player on our roster IMO.

I was thinking you shave 7 mins there, 7 mins off the twins, 6 mins off Sutter, and give those 20 to Duchene

I'm genuinely curious. I can remember two maybe three in the last two years, but maybe I'm biased cause I think he's awful.

I dunno.

i think of an energy line as...having energy or creating energy by making big hits, getting in on the forecheck, forcing turn overs and generally taking it to the opposition, creating a spill over effect that pumps up the other lines.

our 4th line right now is safe. v safe.

I'm genuinely curious how many fights he's been in this year. I think he's awful, but I was just commenting that I don't seem to have seen too many. He takes a lot of donkey penalties, I have noticed but thanks for pointing out the PIM's. Obviously if he led the league last year, he must of had quite a few scraps. Anyone know a database that keeps track?

I guess it was 2 seasons ago, the season before Prust, Dorsett always seemed to be dropping the gloves.

Guddy and Sbisa seem more reluctant to fight than Dorsett.

Overpaid, undersized, whatever his shortcomings, Dorsett is the first player on this team to come to another's defense.

If we could upgrade, I'm all for that, I'm not his biggest fan, but he does things others aren't willing to do.

That's fair. I think you can pay a lot of guys the league minimum to be that guy though.

Hockeyfights.com has it. Despite his neck injury getting worse, hes been in 3 this year, 11 last year (2nd in league), and 17 the year before that (2nd in league). Team leader all three seasons. Crazy in 2015 the next closest Canuck had 3...

If there was an answer to that i'm sure we'd also cure world hunger/poverty/cancer.
- Brooks_Light

WD is too loyal to rolling 4 lines as much as possible and doesn't know the meaning of cutting off a full line. That's the answer. Last year he would only sit rookies towards the end, and would play less effective players over them.

He quite often leads the league in fighting majors...this season was obviously an exception due to injury.

Bottom 3, our top 9 are all producing at 2nd or 3rd line numbers, with Bo just shy of 1st line numbers.

Really?
I would suggest 'well managed' as to not burn him out or be more prone to injury.

Totally agree...players earn it
U bust your ass & make ppl notice u is my take.
None of this get a chance crap or he deserves a shot.
Thats what a couch potato would have u believe.

- Nighthawk

Yes. Sure. But how do you know that's not happening? That earning it is so subjective. How it's applied among others who get a pass or preferential treatment.
