I was at the Sabres/Leafs game last night. Here are my observations from 12 rows up.

The Sabres played a great 1st period, after that nothing much happened. Probably need to blame the coach for that. The goalies let in 2 goals that they shouldn't have. Nobody on the Sabres stood out for being particularly good but the same could be said of the Leafs - no one stood out for being good. Bogo stood out for being bad particularly on that penalty in the 3rd. As soon as he took it, i told my buddy "that's the game" and then the Leafs scored on the power play. Overall, an uninspiring game from both sides.

Lastly, I drank too much and I am a bit hungover. Not a good thing considering I am at the airport and have to fly back home. Also, i am in the "fire Disco" camp now.

Good point. Hair of the dog. A beer on the flight might be in order.

I don't really see a huge issue with that. Byslma's post game comments didn't seem too concerned either. Lehner plays an angry, emotion filled game. I don't expect him to be thrilled if he is getting pulled out of a game.

Of course you want your goalie to be competitive but don't act as if your coach just (frank)ed you over when you just messed up

It's speculation but he said Nylander would be probably what the avalanche would want ,and dmen? But it's moving pieces, not just duschene (barrie)?also Winnipeg is talking to the avalanche too..winni scout at the game

IMO, This team lacks top 6 talent.

Okposo
Reinhart
Eichel
ROR

They need two more pieces to add to the top 6.
Nylander being one. The other comes from this years draft. They need to sell at the deadline and get the highest pick possible.

If True that Landy is on the market for a goalie. I offer Lehner everyday.

Harrington is right on this one.... Obviously the Sabres are in a world of hurt right now...

Can anyone here please tell me in detail exactly what the Sabres rebuild plan actually is? Does one even exist?

I would have to think that someone can offer better than Lehner if that's the case.

We've seen this before, that's why we can call it out. they go into first intermission 2-0, and come out an entirely different team. In my opinion, that's coaching. That's parking the bus. It has happened at least 5 times this year. Maybe that's what Lehner was chirping at Richardsma. Why change what's working? Why? because you think you're an awesome coach and start over coaching. He did it time and time again in Pittsburgh too, which got him run. He needs to be fired.

I remember the mantra when the tank began was "build through the draft". Toronto seems to be doing that. Tim Murray wanted to "accelerate the rebuild". It's discouraging at this point.

Remember when everybody was all up in arms because most predictions had Toronto ahead of Buffalo in the standings?

You know Buff... They are just a mess right now... Where is the direction? Exactly what the hell is the plan? And even if the players were in place .... they need a coach....

Is it really all coaching or is this team just mentally fragile?

I'm all for firing Bylsma, but I don't think this team is a playoff team under another coach. They still need a lot of speed, and about four new defensemen.

You hear a lot of "we didn't do this or that" and not "I need to be better". That tells me it's coaching. It's the players against the coach. Jack at least has said it. the rest of them are hinting it.

Totally agree... They are a long way from being a competitive playoff team.... I will say this.. If they ar4e that mentally fragile then look at the GM as the cause.... He brought them here...

I don't know if it's solely coaching. Komarov's goal 30 seconds into the 2nd didn't look like any change in strategy and then the Sabres were on their heels.

Andersen gifted the Sabres two goals. I don't think anyone would've grumbled had it been 0-0 afer the 1st period. The Leafs bounced back and started skating. Probably a different game had the Sabres come out at the beginning of the 2nd, or had Andersen not given them a 2 goal lead

I think you're right in TM trying to accelerate the rebuild. ROR, Kane, Lehner may be decent players, but those trades were pointless when you think about the timing. TM has them in no man's land (unless they score well in the upcoming draft).

When I lived in barrie north of toronto, I had the pleasure of meeting occasionally with a few ex players, three scouts (two amateur one pro) and an ex nhl ref, at a bar they would get together on Thurs.the cast would change from time to time but that's the main group (knights of the round table ) is what they called their bar gang lol,and I kept in touch with the one scout (amateur )Winnipeg.

oh nice, thanks for the info.

Another poster and i jokingly speculated that the actual master plan was to rebuild this team using Colorado. If this actually happens ill be convinced
