I noticed Kane, twice, which is not enough.
Risto was pretty good and Bogosian not bad.

Reinhart? Okposo? and every other forward... really weak night.

- Aetherial

Yea thats the thing. not bad just isnt acceptable when your cap hit is north of 5 mil.

A lot of overanalyzing with this team. Its a hard cap league, if you want an answer for why you've spent close to the cap and yet have a bottom 5 team, its obviously because you've got a few guys being paid way too much for what they bring.

Your rebuild was done right. We have a horrible gm who made some bad deals.
mcnabb and two 2nds
Pysyk
Myers,1st rounder,lemieux
1st rounder for lehner
Just to name a few...bad drafting,trades

- Buffalo39

It wad rushed along wasn't it?
My leafs have been doing it for yrs.. Shanahan is looking genius

We have arguably the worst defense in the league yet I can assure you we won't address that until off season and it won't be with high picks
Prospects and vets...I honestly think our forward cord is strong. And deep

I'd trade 23 if I were u guys.. he seems very inconsistent and disinterested.. that just me?... don't watch him too much

Says -4 on Corsica, and being on the ice in the last minute for some shots for helps.

At some point, he needs to actually be good in that area

- sbroads24

He'll never be good in that area. simply doesnt have the stick work or skating ability for it. Its why hes not winning a norris. But its not hopeless. Obvious solution would be to start adding some guys who excel in this area. Instead we added Kulikov.

That specific play was pretty easy to call but i take your point. Its just one play, but this has been a common theme all year. This team was built to play a style that doesn't work anymore. you're not going to out muscle teams to victory.
- Sabresfan-365

Cmon 365; stop asking in hindsight.

He designed and built the team in 2013-14. At the time "heavy hockey" was winning. 5 of 8 in the quarterfinals and 3 of 4 in the semifinals suggest he was going the right way. And Murrays "heavy" was also fast. Kane can fly. Bogo can skate. Carrier has wings.

Murrays blueprint was de rigeur - even advanced - when he started to execute it. I'm 2015, the Eastern Conference moved to faster speed kills hockey, but the balance of power was still in the West and it still played heavy.

I kinda think Murrays has been forced to recalibrate on the fly as the game changes.

Your defense doesn't have jack crap on ours. We have overpaid losers occupying 4/6 spots when healthy on multiple year deals.

23 is not disinterested that's a terrible analysis. He is a high hockey IQ guy who sees the puck and is very cerebral and calm which may to a un knowledgeable fan of his game style appear to be disinterested as you claimed.

Did you see the Stephen Hawking on-ice shoot the puck right into Andersen behind the net with 10 seconds left?

This is true but it was well established even in mainstream media that hockey was shifting towards where we are at now. In fact Eichel and McDavid were among the leaders in that shift. Smart teams recognized this and started building towards that trend. There were plenty of posters on here (not even talking about myself, other sabres posters) who noticed this change.

If he was trying to build a team to compete in 2013-15 that'd be one thing, but even with moves to speed up the build it wasn't going to happen till this year at the absolute earliest. He's been forced to change tactics on the fly because he either couldn't or honestly more likely refused to look ahead to where the game was headed. Which is strange because the guy he tanked for more or less represents that change.

His goal scoring needs improvement. I don't know why but Bylsma doesn't have him in front of the net anymore like he needs to be. But he is an incredible passer.

I watched him a lot in junior.. was Pissed when you guys got him.. he looks nothing like that junior player.. the times I've watched him, he's been invisible.. but I understand what you're saying.. again, I don't watch him game in game out.. only suggested it because he is very valuable.. could net a nice return on the back end ...

Orrr fire Dan and incorporate a little more offense
